Texas Football Stadium Vote A Reason to Celebrate, Sort Of

Last edited Fri Nov 8, 2013, 03:12 PM - Edit history (1)

This week fifty four percent of Voters in Katy, Texas said no to building a $69 million dollar high school football stadium and a new STEM science and agriculture center, which was included in the construction package. While it's good news that voters saw through the need to build such a monument to football, the priority of building a giant football stadium has sacked a worthy project.

This is a rare defeat. Usually here in Texas school districts get the multi-million football stadiums they want.

The town next to mine is a "football town." Not only do they have a fabulous outdoor stadium….

…they also have an indoor football field (which the Dallas Cowboys have used) when the weather is inclement.

In this area alone I'd estimate that taxpayers have fronted around $200,000,000 to build school football stadiums. (That's why Jerry Jones had to spend $1,000,000,000 to build his new stadium in Arlington for the Cowboys.)
