(561 posts)....news and infomercials was crossed long ago.
If you watch infomercials you must have no grass growing or paint drying around the house. If you watch the MSM News, Bozos' Circus must not be on the air at the same time in your media market.
Another thing becoming more obvious is the increasing lack of self generated content from the MSM in broadcast (antenna) television.
On weekends the number of infomercials and commercials make watching broadcast television a sport for the brain dead.
You have to ask yourself if this precious band space could be used for a more productive purpose.

(2,606 posts)North America. This was before extensive internet access. Anyway, we were watching the news and South Africa had started having blacks as part of the police force. For the first time a black officer had shot a white suspect, a potentially explosive situation post apartheid. Well we caught a 30 second segment on one station and flipped between 3 others (broadcast TV, didn't have cable) and there was no mention on the other channels, but the last one we checked did have a 30 second spot about a rat that could play "basketball". Priorities ya' know.
OK one other quick story since I'm procrastinating a bit. My jaw dropped the first time I heard the words "liberal media" as I had already (boasting a bit) realized that the media was really soft on the republicans as they glorified Gulf War I. It was a bit sickening to hear them sing the praises of everyone involved, with no apparent concern at all that people were dying. And since I sunk into that morass, in hindsight it is even more sickening that they bought into the justifications, since we told Hussein that we wouldn't hinder moves into Kuwait and the "nurse" that told the sad story of Iraqi soldiers dumping preemies out of incubators was not a nurse, but the daughter of a Kuwaiti Ambassador and the whole story was concocted.
Learning a lot from L. Fletcher Prouty's book on JFK on how this is done.
