(41,861 posts)that they love to "Declare war on.." this or that? War on drugs, war on Christmas.... and always making sweeping Attacks.
One could imagine visiting the headquarters of Fox news, and finding a row of DRUMMERS inside beating the DRUMS OF WAR...for whatever they are mad about.
Thinking of that gives me a headache!

(41,861 posts)about loving their weapons than say Democrats or Independents, (or if Dems or Independents do, they don't go about bragging about it). Republicans have grown up on John Wayne World War II films, and Ronald Reagan (who never went to any war except in the movies.) They are probably the most AGGRESSIVE party on the planet... LETS RUN OFF TO DO A WAR IN THE MIDDLE EAST... than of course there is all that manufacturing of weapon systems... its big money. Yup, Republicans love a profitable WAR!

(3,411 posts)If someone has declared war on you, you are putting yourself at risk if you don't fight back as if you are at war.
Do most people want to go to war? No, but you go to war because you have to, and especially when there's an existential threat.
Otherwise we will always be on the defensive and never mount an effective offense.
Ask yourself: Are we winning the war against the right wing? Including the rich and the corporations?
And no, I'm not talking about physical war, but the war of words and rhetoric, politics, and the hearts and minds of people. They have basically declared war against the left 42 years ago (with the Lewis Powell Memo), and have been in a state of war against the left ever since. The left has never really acknowledged that there is a war against it, nevertheless even thinking of fighting back as if they are at war. I think that that is stupid IMO, I'm sorry to say. And who pays the price? The people of America that are in the bottom 80% of the economic hierarchy. If the left really loved and cared about the American people, they would be doing all they could to fight back against the right wing.

(5,279 posts)Why do you think the GOP lets dipshits like Bachmann, Gohmert, and King blither on in public. They are camouflage. Like General Patton's make believe Army in England across the channel from Calais. They are there to be photographed, analyzed, and distract from the real threat.
The fiscal imperialists want to bypass "all men are created equal", they do not believe that and never will. They have replaced the divine right of kings with the divine right of money. I am starting to believe they hate the end of the dark ages, or wish to reboot a neo-dark age as a play thing for themselves.
We just spent the last century bloodily removing the lingering visages of Imperialism and colonialism, I fear this won't end well. On the plus side for the imperialists, a fuckload of them want the world to end in an apocalypse; so maybe that was the end game all along.
