Thank you so very much for posting this documentary.

There is not a day that passes that I do not think about the late great Hugo Chavez.

History will be very kind to him !!!!

He will be known as one of the greatest leaders in the 21st century.

3. You have no idea of what you are talking about

Hugo Chavez was not a great man, he destroyed Venezuela, the poor are not better off today than they were before Hugo Chavez took power. Now Venezuela has a Colombian (Maduro) as president, a man who cannot utter a full sentence that makes any sense and has now been given "full power" for a year so that he may "fix the economy", the problem is that the only economy they are going to fix is their own bank accounts.

You need to visit Venezuela and see for yourself, and if you come back alive, because yes, Venezuela has one of the highest crime rates in the World, where hundreds get killed every day and kidnappings happen on a daily basis.

Most of the people with close associations with the government live in "El Country Club", "La Lagunita", "Prados de Este", and if you don't know what those names mean then you really must admit that you don't know what you are talking about. Like any other "Socialist/Communist" regime, only those in power benefit, for the rest it just gets worst, it is high corruption.

Educate yourself please.

And cold; Chavez donated heating oil to the poor in America, too. Don't tell me how much better off we all are with vulture capitalism! And that's what capitalism always turns into because it's based on greed and abuse of anyone lower on the totem pole. But it sows the seeds of its own destruction, and the wheat looks ripe for harvesting. The real Hunger Games have arrived.

I have no use for anyone like our own Sage of Omaha, but at least he's for reinstating the death tax for rich people and making them pay more taxes while alive. Not because he's some doting grandfather to the masses, but because he knows FAT COWS GIVE MORE MILK. Most capitalists aren't smart enough to figure that out, though. I'm personally against armed revolution myself and am old anyway - maybe that's why. But I do all I can to work for peaceful change to a more socialist form of government. That, too, I believe can be done.

But when vulture capitalists and armed revolutionaries do wind up locked in a death struggle, don't expect me to cry over spilled milk either. The teabaggers and other RW extremists are fascist to the core, in service to the Oligarchy. I consider them treasonous. True socialism is the only thing standing between the chaos stirred up by extremists on either end of the political spectrum.

I loved Chavez dearly and he remains in my prayers. Dis him and you've got a problem with me.

he probably need it. By the way, do you know how much money Chavez left to their children when he died? Find out. You would be surprised for a " Socialist" who came to the power with nothing, how much money he had when he died. Find out. See? For me, he was the vulture.

than ours, it looks to me as if he leveled things out a bit. And he even gave to poor Americans. I don't think he would've been so wildly adored by so many of the poor around the world if he'd been what you say. So what if he didn't die penniless and leave his family destitute? Whatever charge(s) you wish to bring against him will need to be backed up with irrefutable proof and not just your word. I mean proof from impartial, non-involved sources, too.

That said, yes, I'm honored to keep the man in my prayers.

15. One thing I can say about internet reading; it certainly sharpens your senses

of who to listen to and who to ignore. (I dislike the word 'whom' in most conversational discourse.)

I do try to look at the overall picture. Castro wouldn't have lasted as long as he has in Cuba if not for the widespread popular support of the masses. Hugo Chavez was too highly beloved of the poor to have been what the other poster describes. Of course people who had to give up some of their ill gotten gains won't appreciate it, and others in the same category worry about it happening to them. Or if they have nothing at all, they may even be so addicted to the fantasy of wealth that they still feel threatened. No, far better and safer to worship the rich and hope they'll reward you with a crumb or two!

With the exception of China, these countries have a much higher standard of living than in America.
How do you feel about unregulated capitalism? Senator Bernie sanders? progressive taxes?
just curious.
Venezuela did not even make the list. They are still struggling and still have a majority capitalist society. The struggle probably accounts for much of the violence.

How many of you Chavez defenders have been in Venezuela ever, or that past year?

I know people who live there, I talk to them every week, I am not sure where you are getting your information from.

The struggle is not only because of the unregulated violence, which Chavez created, but because of what IrishAyes calls "vulture capitalists and armed revolutionaries", well now the vultures are those from the "Robolution", check where some of the "Robolutionaries" live in Caracas, for example Deosdado Cabello, he live in "El Country Club"...check it out if you know any of the people in Government and see if these people live like socialists, check out Chavez family fortune and real estate in Apure.

Once you do that you can talk about socialism and the greatness of Hugo Chavez.

You are so right! Venezuela is not even a shadow of the country that it was before Chavez.
I would recommend people who seem to be in denial on what was going on in Venezuela, to travel there and see by themselves .
