They are like what the Tea Party is to the GOP.

They oppose the extension.

Gun manufacturers are still making their guns out of steel so I don't see them getting very involved.

Why didn't anyone bring that up in 1995?

Oh, right, They did.

Caseless bullets, aluminum bullets, etc etc.

Not all ammo comes off the shelf from your local Walmart.

But also how effective can those bullets be? will it be able to perforate the skull as Rachel says? cos I am sure there is a reason why bullets are made of harder metals instead of aluminum and caseless material.

The law was passed based on a movie that mentioned a fictional Glock model, and someone claiming that Glock had the ability to make one. Glock never made one for reasons having having nothing to do with US law, since Glock is an Austrian company and the guns are made in Austria. The "liberator" is a single shot and an almost single use zip gun, since the barrel has to be replaced after reach round.

Caseless bullets, aluminum bullets, etc etc.

Which has what to do with any law? Aluminum will still show up in a metal detector. BTW, simply claiming "talking point" is not a valid argument.
The reason the NRA doesn't oppose it is because it doesn't ban anything that actually exits. If it did exist, it would only ban US companies from making one, but not any in Europe or any place else. The US hardly has the corner on the firearms market, given that most US and Canadian police forces carry European made handguns made by Glock, SIG, FN, and Beretta. It is like FWS banning unicorn hunting and dragon slaying.

"A one-sentence bill by Rep. Howard Coble, R-North Carolina, was approved easily by House lawmakers and sent to the Senate."

Basically that tells me they approved an extension of the deadline, leaving the bill otherwise the same.

But that's not going to be good enough for the banners. They want to expand the restrictions, rewrite the law in such a way as to ban a wide range of existing firearms, I'm sure.
