in the San Diego Community College system. He figured out with all the time he puts in grading papers, etc., it amounts to about $8.00 per hour. He is $100,000 in debt to earn his Masters in fine arts. He lives in a small studio apartment and pays nearly $1,000 per month for it. He has no money. No savings. No nothing. It doesn't seem right to me.

and the reduction in tenure-track full-time professors has another sinister dimension which is a function of the drive to cut college costs. The new dimension is now not just to rely on adjuncts but to rely on teaching courses on-line and to therefore reduce education costs by cutting time in the class-rooms. This phenomenon according to Professor Richard Wolff is part of an overall trend to send quality education overseas.....good professors and classes are going to be found in India and China vice on the US campuses.
