Somewhere, some evil scientist has taken the DNA of Caligula, Torquemada, Vlad the Impaler and just to dumb them down to ghastly proportions, the common slug. And is mass producing today's conservatives.

But the one that really gets to me is the Arizona repukes censuring McCain for being "too liberal". I really don't feel bad for McCain, but I do feel bad for any sane Arizonans out there. A friend of mine lives there and he says there are true crazies in that state.

Rep. Turner, do you plan to annul all Oklahoma marriages to undo the gay marriages? And if so, are you declaring all Oklahomans bastards?

Rep Brown, I'm sorry the trained professionals (such as they are) aren't targeting people based on your personal prejudices. Perhaps you could write a new set of guidelines for the TSA. Be careful to properly use hyphens though ie, stop suspicious people, but not white people/ you need to search not-white people.

Arizonian Republicans, Even though your hate fu has surpassed your sensei, you still need to appear respectful. Else your disciples will think it's okay to spit on you later.

Sen. Cruz, sorry to find out about your concussion that you must have suffered so late; but get better soon. I tend to skip over articles about you as I have to spend hours scrubbing my soul to feel clean after exposure (even in print) to you.

Sen Paul, you have it wrong, the young people are currently taking over. Your party and message are the ones losing.

Candidate Bennett, Having you as a reformer of domestic violence legislation, would give me the same warm fuzzy as having Jamie Dimon as chairman of the Federal Reserve. That discontinuity of sphincter slamming terror and despair induced diarrhea.

is that not only are these things true - but there's a lot worse out there in terms of Republican behavior, tone and policies. AND YET - Republicans are NOT going to lose anything by a landslide in November. It's being reported that a lot of seats are "in play" for Republicans this November, and the the Democrats "are in trouble" in certain areas owing to the president's unpopularity and the some emerging shortcomings of the ACA.

Even if the president is a little bit in the doghouse right now, and even if we're seeing a few growing pains in the ACA, what Republican office holders and office seekers are bringing to the table now (regarding women, equality for gays, voting, etc.) is so overwhelmingly bad and whacked that I just can't believe they're holding power in this country and may gain a little in this election.

The people themselves are the problem. They're just fucking stupid. They get enraged when you want to ban high powered machine guns after Sandy Hook, but they're eerily non-committal when someone says women who want birth control are promiscuous, or when you pollute the water of 300,000 people for two weeks.

Something doesn't add up here. Am I really out of step with the mainstream? Or, is America really in trouble?

The first picture is of Us Congressman Mike Turner* of Ohio's 10th district, he is not the one who proposed the ban on all marriage in Oklahoma. It would be Oklahoma(state) Representative Michael Turner** of Oklahoma's 82 district who holds this silly place in the record book of stupid.
