Michele Bachmann vs. Bernie Sanders CNN Debate Goes Completely Off the Rails

It was the type of shout-fest debate that would not have been out of place in the original Crossfire. But instead of taking place on the reboot of that show, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) went head-to-head on CNN’s The Situation Room Monday afternoon. Once they go going, all host Wolf Blitzer had to do was get out of the way as these two ideologically-opposed lawmakers went at each other’s throats for nearly fifteen minutes straight.

WRONG!

Higher taxes has been proven over and over to promote economic prosperity for all classes in this country. Lower taxes does just the opposite, at least when it's unleashed by Republicans who tout the concept of 'lower taxes,' when their policies are skewed to benefit mostly wealthy taxpayers. The average Joe ends up with a $300 tax rebate, then suffers from stagnant wages and Wall Street ruin from the wealthy who gamble with Joe's retirement and U.S. Treasury raiders who view budget surpluses as money to be distributed back to the politically connected. NO THANKS, Bachmann and company!!

I'll take higher taxes every day. Give me a candidate that says he's/she's going to raise taxes and pay down the national debt. That's a future I want. Been there. I remember. Oh yeah, what did Clinton say in his SOTU address? Wasn't he labeled a liberal 'tax and spend' Democrat? "My fellow Americans, the state of the union has never been better."

NO MORE REPUBLICANS!

Now that is why I do not subscribe to cable. Why in the world would I pay one cent of my money to Wolf Blitzer to sit there like a lump on a log and allow Michelle Bachmann to scream at the top of her lungs all kinds of nonsense.

I like Pacifica radio especially Ian Master's show in the evening and Democracy Now. The guests are not allowed to speak over each other. They treat each other courteously. The hosts ask intelligent questions and a listener can learn something.

It is impossible to learn anything or think about what guests are saying on programs like Wolf Blitzer's when the host does not insist that only one person at a time should speak.

What idiocy.

Bernie Sanders did very well. He did not insult Michelle Bachmann. But he pointed out that she was not staying on topic.

So much for cable news. I don't want in my home. I don't want it in my face.

Yes, I listened to the end. Bachmann was incredibly rude, shouting over every point Senator Sanders tried to make. She's got nothing except gish gallop, and she used that relentlessly.

Wolf Blitzer is an advocate for the interests of the 1% and he has proven that repeatedly. He isn't a journalist and seems to be incapable of calling Bachmann on anything.

And Bachmann is ridiculous. She is a stain on my home state of Minnesota.

Because Republicans like Bachmann are for the most part creationists they use the Gish Gallop technique any time they are before a camera. She threw up 10 falsehoods before Senator Sanders could even make a single statement. http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Gish_Gallop

Long thread. I learned a good description for Michelle's debating technique:

BULLHORNING

a wonderful term to describe the debating tactics of almost all Republican bullies that go on TV! Oh, for a moderator that could actually make their guests adhere to the basic rules of a debate, or simply employ basic civility!

All we have to do is tell the American people what the Republican positions are and the Republicans lose.

But! And this is a huge but. Republicans keep running their mouths and throwing up a huge smoke screen of obfuscation, just like Bachmann so rudely demonstrated, so that people never hear their actual position.

Because they are for the most part creationists they use the Gish Gallop technique any time they are before a camera. She threw up a number of falsehoods before Senator Sanders could even make a single statement. When the Senator tried to respond she rudely interrupted him and make more false allegations. http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Gish_Gallop

Of course Wolf completely failed to rein Bachmann in because he is ideologically in her camp.

I loved when she tried claim Bernie used a logical fallacy, while using a logical fallacy to paint him with a broad brush.

But she's not running again so she can say what her sponsors want her to say.
