named piper, who was raped when she was 14 by a soldier who was 18. she didn't even realize it was rape, since there was no knife or gun. she got pregnant, told her parents, gave birth. the police, the da--NOBODY would help them, nothing done to the rapist. NOW that rapist is not suing for visitation, he is suing for FULL CUSTODY AND for piper to pay HIM child support. the fact that this is even going to trial is insane. her parents are trying to adopt the child, and are worried the police will take the child away, as happened in wisconsin.

these are truly sickening, woman-hating, states, legislators, judges, et all. in a SANE society, a RAPIST would NEVER have rights to the child in any way, shape or form. no woman would EVER be put through this kind of additional and ongoing horror.

Would it change your story if she really wasn't raped. Lets see, four eye witnesses to the event her own family and friends. Letters from the DA and law enforcement that there was no crime. Two different law Enforcement branches looked at it and found 100% proof that a crime was not committed. So lets just make a movie, through some tears, and people will believe you. Don't try to mask this case by talking about other cases, let this stand own it's own merits and it stinks.

Wisconsin : Intercourse with a minor under 16 is a Class C felony, and intercourse with a 16-year-old minor is a Class A misdemeanor

I am fascinated that you found this thread from a year ago, and your insistence that statutory rape is not rape. sickening, but, given some of the other things I have seen on this board, not in the least surprising.

that this can be allowed to happen is criminal and the judge that allows it should be gone.

An old friend who had been a big pothead hippie the last time I hung out with him (about 6 years ago) has apparently turned into a big gun nut and started bombarding the thread with all sorts of posts about women needing to conceal carry and make sure the gun was holstered and easily accessible. When he was politely told that wasn't the point, he got even more belligerent and started posting a bunch of sexist links about how women should defend themselves. When someone with a gay pride symbol for their avatar responded, he posted something about the need for gays to carry. When the friend who had posted the initial story took the post down, he started posting on her wall about being too much of a coward to debate gun rights.

I've never been big about the term "rape culture" - mostly because I was brought up to respect women and don't think that way - it was shocking to see such a frankly scary example from a formerly close friend who I used to get baked at Dead shows with.
