1. Or VP.

I really loved his dad, and he's a chip off the old block. His brother describes him as 'intensely alpha', so he relishes a good fight. But regardless I'll still support the person who wins the nomination, because we have to get rid of as many Repugs as possible. A breakaway third party would kill us - unless it's the teabaggers, of course!

7. Your One Comment About Him

being a "chip off the old block" is something I have yet to see. His father seemed much more genuine when being Liberal was fading, he stuck to his guns. I'm sure he has skeletons as most politicians do, but the Liberals back then DID project their beliefs. Bernie Sanders, Warren and the handful of good ones of today seem to me to be closer to him than his son.

JMHO!

12. Your opinion is welcome. Regardless, as I said, I'll support our eventual final candidate

regardless of who it turns out to be. One thing nobody could accuse Andrew Cuomo of: bringing a library book to a knife fight. I do tire of those charges, especially when slung by DINOs. Nobody in the world could top Dad overall, but Andrew is still recognizably his son.

BTW, at every opportunity I love to ask people if they see any of Mario in the character Al Pacino played in 'The City'. That speech at the funeral was a corker. 'Based loosely on the life of...' is not inconceivable. I love that movie.

disclosure: I absolutely love any Al Pacino movie.

9. Or with the left, the unions.
Mon Feb 3, 2014, 12:32 AM

He makes it clear he does not care for them.

"What the Democratic Party is all about is growth and change," Cuomo said. "It's a new day. There are new problems that need new approaches. And that is what's meant by the new Democratic Party."

.."One change from the "old" Democratic party seems to be the willingness of Cuomo and his running mate Robert Duffy to take on a powerful constituency -- the public employee unions. Duffy has battled with union leaders in Rochester over some of his controversial proposals, including his call for more control of city schools. Cuomo says he respects that.

"Yes, he tangled with public employee unions," Cuomo said. "Guess what, we're going to be tangling with public employee unions going forward."

3. He's touting so-called "moderate republicans" and throwing his lot in with them.

I found nothing inspiring in his speech. Unlike Cuomo, who calls Republicans "we", I have no sense of belonging to the Republican party. He begins and ends by totally dismissing the Democratic party - and he makes no mention of ideals or principles except to decry the "extreme Republican right".

Just from this one statement I find myself totally repelled by Cuomo, who sounds like a just another decadent opportunist.

4. I hope not. He's a corporate sell out. Times are changing and that's not going to be a resume

he can sell.

The national level pols of the future must be in the mold of Elizabeth Warren, and their credibility will be measured in the number of Wall St. scalps on their lodgepole, not the number of donors they are indebted to.

He should be and is yesterday's news.

Can't quite put my finger on it, but SOMETHING really, really bothers me about him. Not his father, that's for sure.

He's positioned himself well, has the right peeps around him... but I'm really on the fence with this one. Time will tell.

15. Sooooooooooooo, It Seems SOME Of My "Hinky" Feelings
Wed Feb 5, 2014, 05:11 PM
Feb 2014

about Cuomo just hit my ears. Seems He WANTS to LOWER TAXES for Corporatists in NY!

Just heard this comment on The Cycle!

DEFINITELY not a "chip off the old block" as some would think. I live down here in Florida and I never supported him from the get go. AND, I think I'll say something rather controversial, or maybe just something to think about. My gut tells me the quickness of him distancing himself from Christie might just be more than meets the eye!

I have NO facts to back up what I'm saying, just saying there's something about him that really, really bothers me! I think he's more about "I got mine, you get yours" than he wants people to think!

8. Cuomo appears to be anti-union, at least against public employee unions.
Mon Feb 3, 2014, 12:29 AM
Feb 2014

That disturbs me for a Democrat to be anti-union.

From 2010

Andrew Cuomo, his running mate, and "New Democratic Party" to fight public employee unions?

."In Duffy, Cuomo has chosen a potential lieutenant governor who stands for strong executive authority, especially in education. Duffy has been trying to follow in the footsteps of Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who's taken power from local school boards and put it in the mayor's office.

..."The head of the local teachers' union, which vehemently opposes Duffy's approach, told local TV that Duffy's move sharply divided the community. No doubt what the teachers, some parents and community members see as a mayoral power grab, Duffy and advocates for mayoral control, such as Bloomberg, see as ensuring accountability.

The NY state Democratic convention said they plan to be New Democrats.

10. Could end up our next Vice President
Mon Feb 3, 2014, 06:37 AM

Would Hillary Clinton ask him to be on the ticket with her?

They're both conservative Democrats.

He would hold no punches in any debates with the likes of Ted Cruz; but him being against the unions bothers me.

I, too, have much respect for his father.

anymore than what he is, Mitt Romney in sheep's clothing . He has abused gubernatorial status in historical dimensions, on guns, tax-free zones, and his apathetic views on the needy .

Cuomo in the opinions of most in this state is toast, the union people are pissed at him, the gun owners are pissed at him, and the one union that will hurt him the most is the teachers union.
