The GOP’s Identity Crisis

This segment originally aired on the February 2nd, 2014 episode of Ring of Fire on Free Speech TV. The Republican Party is suffering from a very severe identity crisis – the internal struggle between the old guard and the Tea Party has reached a fevered pitch, and that’s leaving their funders in a tough position. Ring of Fire guest host Farron Cousins talks about this with attorney Howard Nations.

trying to step on each other as they claw their way to the top.

Nothing to see here, really. They might have been stamped out by machine, they're all so much alike.

That's the Republican identity, a bunch of men screaming "MINE! ALL MINE!" as they completely lose sight of the job they'd be expected to do and the people they'd be expected to serve, not bully.

I am a former conservative voter. I switched parties in 2001 and my partner in 2005. There isn't one person here that would make me even consider voting GOP. Even if there was one we wouldn't because of all the nut jobs that would come up behind the one sane person they could find. But you have to ask, what sane person would align themselves with a party that looks like this one does today?

Thanks in part to lots of primary challenges (and the possible subsequent third party candidates) it sounds like we have a real chance to hold the Senate AND take the House.

I sure as hell hope so!
