Second Dunn Juror Speaks Out

I do not think DUers are going to like what this juror says. I think the reporter could have done a better job in conducting the interview. The thoughts of the juror, in my opinion, were not clearly presented.

This is juror number 8. I heard it said this was the youngest juror. Apparently, she(the juror) believed Michael Dunn was only guilty of second degree murder. She seems to have accepted Dunn's claim of self defense, but felt he should have stopped shooting once the SUV retreated. However, the reporter did not ask her of she was one of the 2-3 jurors that voted not guilty. The juror then went on to say that she wanted Jordan Davis' parents to know that they fought for Jordan. That all of the jurors who felt Dunn was guilty fought for a guilty verdict.

When he put in those bullets...that pretty much means he was thinking about it before it happened. VanillaRhapsody Feb 2014 #3

But it still was callous disregard for life. While you or I may think that him pulling out his gun, loading and shooting makes it premeditated, someone else would say he didn't go to the store with the intent to kill, he didn't ask them to turn the music down with the intent to kill.

Premeditated versus not premeditated is not a clearcut line.

She saw it differently.

I thought she came across very well in the interview. I disagree, but I wasn't there and didn't hear her rationale for 2nd versus 1st. But I respect the fact that she was there, she did hear and see all the evidence.

impression, but when he kept shooting, that suggested it was not really self-defense, just shooting to kill. As if she was tying all the shooting into one event. Which, if you listen to the tape, is how it sounds. Bang-bang-bang-bang, nonstop.

She voted 2nd degree murder, not self-defense, not manslaughter.

2nd degree murder is reckless disregard for life, just not pre-meditated.
