There's a gas well on family property, owned by my brother and myself by inheritance some years ago. We agreed to one gas well on the property before we were aware of fracking, which has not been necessary as far as we've been told. Royalties were great for a while, but now just enough to maybe buy a nice, family restaurant dinner per month. We've since found, however, that the company has been operating from some of the surface land above the mineral rights we sold them. Still our property, but included in mineral rights for them to use? I don't think so. In other words, they have operated off our surface land above the mineral rights for their own base for equipment , etc. We're now looking into nailing them for this, but , certainly it's not anything that will be worth our while financially. I doubt it's worth the trouble, other than making a point.
