Dennis Kucinich about US involvement in Ukraine

Russia's invasion of Ukraine was spurred by U.S. behind-the-scenes actions, says former Ohio congressman and Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich.

Fox News host Bill O'Reilly on Tuesday accused Kucinich of being a pacifist because of his opposition to the Iraq war, and Kucinich countered that war is wrong but not all U.S. military action is so.

O'Reilly then asked how Kucinich would have handled the Ukraine crisis had he been president.

"What I'd do is not have USAID and the National Endowment for Democracy working with U.S. taxpayers' money to knock off an elected government in Ukraine, which is what they did," Kucinich answered. "I wouldn't try to force the people of Ukraine into a deal with NATO against their interest or into a deal with the European Union, which is against their economic interest."

"So, it's the USA's fault that Putin rolled in? We made them do it?" O'Reilly asked.

"Bill O'Reilly, if you don't believe in cause and effect, I don't know what I can do for you," Kucinich responded.

Good for Kucinich. And thanks for me be able to read without going through the video to deal with Faux. I hope that the Faux news crowd things heartily about this. Most of them can't wait for the "stand off" between US and Russia to "GET THEIR WAR ON!" and pull out their "Patriot Bumper Stickers." As if we didn't have enough war and waste of our taxpayer money on wars while the Repugs force austerity on us.

Some years ago deaf DU members used to complain, that there were no transcripts.
Now there is auto-CC on Youtube, but it's not really working 100%.

His district was gerrymandered in 2010 by Ohio's Republican legislature. He was lumped into the same district with Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur and lost to her in the primary.

... but Kucinich, gaining growing national popularity as one of very few Congress members who actually represents and works for the people, and tells the unvarnished important truths, was all too often openly at odds with Dem leadership and they didn't like it -- they wanted him out.

I think they were actually the driving force behind him losing his district -- some kind of behind-closed-doors deal with Rethugs would be my guess.

On the Hill some call it being McKinney'd--the treatment Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney received when she was in Congress. Twice, rather than protecting the incumbent, the Democrats put up well funded challengers against her. Now, it looks like Dennis Kucinich may be facing the same treatment in Cleveland.

There is a report circulating the web that before the Nevada primary Kucinich was visited by representatives of Nancy Pelosi and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the right wing Israeli lobby. They told him that if he would drop his campaigns to impeach Cheney and Bush, they would guarantee his re-election to the House of Representatives. Kucinich threw them out of his office.

Kucinich has aggressively challenged the Democratic Party leadership in Congress and on the presidential campaign trail on the issues of war, civil liberties, impeachment and big business control of government. He's even refused to pledge to endorse the party's presidential nominee.

The Democratic leadership has insisted that impeachment was off the table since taking control of the House in 2006. Congressman Conyers, Chair of the Judiciary Committee, has even refused to investigate whether President Bush and Vice President Cheney have violated the law. But Kucinich pushed the issue. He introduced articles of impeachment against Cheney, then against Bush and he brought the issue up on the House floor. He pushed and pushed to try to make sure the president and vice president were not above the law.
