Thom Hartmann: Why the Koch brothers are behind Cliven Bundy

Lisa Graves, The Progressive / PR Watch / ALEC Exposed, joins Thom Hartmann. The Koch Brothers and their friends in ALEC are planning a massive land grab in the American West. How does deadbeat rancher Cliven Bundy fit into their scheme? And how can we make sure that public lands stay in the hands of "we the people" not "they the corporations?"

Bundy knows it was game over when he failed to renew the lease in 1993, and then Clark County bought the lease in 1998. The fact is not only is he trespassing public rangeland but he tresspassing Clark County's lease.

Bundy is very aware of that reality. However Bundy will use the Militia's to start a civil war in hopes of the return of Deseret.

You can't understand Bundy and his "ancestral" claims without understanding Deseret. You can't understand Bundy's willingness to face off to the feds without understanding our government quelling Deseret.

"After the establishment of the Utah Territory, the Latter-day Saints did not relinquish the idea of a "State of Deseret". From 1862 to 1870, a group of Mormon elders under Young's leadership met as a shadow government after each session of the territorial legislature to ratify the new laws under the name of the "state of Deseret." Attempts were made in 1856, 1862, and 1872 to write a new state constitution under that name based on the new boundaries of the Utah Territory."

A "freeloader" isn't an entrepreneur that sells back to the power grid utility company his/her excess energy, but rather a rancher like Cliven Bundy who shirked paying grazing fees for about 20 years. Any questions now about what a freeloader is?
