I guess it really depends on whether or not Republicans like him and nominate him. He tried before and looked terrible to them. I don't think being accused of anything will hurt him, he is, after all, a Republican. ((Bleh)) Seems there is always a double standard.

that and the video is talking about the constitution part of it. However it is illegal to make threats and he did it again on saturday or whatever by threatening the grand jury (20 years). This is like 10x as bad as whatever Blago did and 2x worse than what Scott Walker did. (lucky him no balance of power in WI

Pap is right on focusing on Rick Perry's authority but he blew it. Perry never had the authority to fire the Austin district attorney, and he should not have tried to. It is just that simple and just that basic. Perry should have taken his own advice and left it to the voters but he did not.

As to Perry's veto, if I may speak for Texas, in Texas nobody has unlimited authority with anything. That goes double for politicians. Again, it is just that simple and just basic. Perry forgot that.

There is an excellent article in the Texas Observer on this matter and all the pundit talk. The consensus objection to the indictments is that they represent an attack on politics as usual. I do not share the objection. To contrary, I would hope so.

What we need is another McCarthy / Welch moment, if I may modify the original, "Until this moment, Governor, I think I never really gauged your cruelty or your recklessness. Let us not assassinate this district attorney further, Governor. You have done enough. Have you no sense of decency?" gauging the cruelty, recklessness, and lack of sense of decency in politics as usual in this case.
