She'd been told by her family that they had Cherokee blood, I think it was, so she listed that on some questionnaire related to time at one of the colleges she attended. Now I can't remember the details, but it seems like it turned out that she either didn't, or else it was something like exactly one ancestor being Native several generations back, such that she was something like 1/32nd or less. So the Repubs wasted inordinate amounts of time attacking her as a 'liar' and a 'hypocrite' because she thought she had more Native ancestry than she did. Apparently she didn't do the genealogy to determine whether or not she did, just accepted what older members of her family had said.
