Tackling Torture in Minnesota

Aren't the torture and death of 10,000 Syrians as important as the beheadings of two Americans by ISIS?

Yet most of the Minnesotans interviewed had not heard of the systematic torture by the brutal Assad regime in Syria.

Why is our media giving Assad a green light to continue his crimes by under reporting them, by not reporting how he has helped ISIS? Assad released some of ISIS leadership from Syrian prisons. He helped fund ISIS by buying oil from them. He focused his military campaign in Syria on the Free Syria Army, not bombing ISIS held areas. (The Telegraph, 8/22/14)

The media's demonization of ISIS helps the US government justify its bombing of ISIS...but it ignores one of ISIS backers and his crimes against humanity. The media has a responsibility to accurately inform citizens, not to skew the coverage - focusing on ISIS and ignoring Assad. As this video shows, the media has failed miserably.

I don't understand why the media gives him a pass. He drops barrel bombs every day on his citizens. The UN has repeatedly accused him of war crimes. And now this concrete documentation of his torture system. The world should be outraged!!!

What an interesting video! Everyone has heard of ISIS, but so few have any understanding of the conflict in Syria. I'd say that's a failure of the antiwar movement to educate itself and send out a better message.
