Finding Iris: Saving a homeless injured dog + an unexpected surprise!!! Please share

Last week Marta and I gave $20 to Hope for Paws and $20 to LAKE TAHOE WILDLIFE CARE, INC for taking care of the little burned bear cub Cinder.

There are so many stories that start out this way, but most don't have such happy endings.

If you ever decide to adopt a dog, check out your local shelter. Buying dogs from pet stores only increases the demand for the cruel puppy mills that often supply them. If you already have a dog, don't forget to get it spayed or neutered. It's the best way you can help prevent dog overpopulation.

Many times when you watch my videos it may seem like I just go to the rescue location and find the dog, but this is actually not true. The search for the dogs is a challenging part of it because they usually hide. Finding Iris was difficult, but it could have been dangerous... we didn't know how she would react when we entered her den, and there is always a risk when going to these rough neighborhoods in the middle of the night.

I will post many photo updates on our Flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/eldad75

Another great outcome for this sweet dog. Thankfully, her puppies will not have to endure what Iris has. Really appreciate all you do, Omaha Steve. HopeForPaws, too, of course.

One thing I've found with rescued dogs and cats is that they know how close they were to disaster and they're damned grateful they found you.

In addition, non designer dogs and cats have generally more robust health and fewer problems associated with inbreeding.

they are. And they appreciate it more. I could believe it, for sure. Especially looking at our dog and four cats!
