Auschwitz Survivors Mark Liberation Anniversary

I went there on a class trip when I was in high school. I expected to sense evil. Instead, all I saw were tawdry buildings.

The real horror is that places like this weren't built by demons. They were built by humans. Homo sapiens is an animal species, and, despite our lofty protestations, the savage is never far from the surface.

The sign over the entrance to Auschwitz. "Work makes you free."

Whenever we think of what we could be, we should remember what we have been.

Many Americans have died from lack of medical care because they could not pay.....the poor and underclass are the "jews" of a Republican/conservative value system

Heartbreaking and satisfying at the same time. These men and women can say that they have see the worst of humanity and respond with true humanity.
