Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) suggested perhaps unwittingly on Thursday that neither she nor any Republican weighing a 2016 presidential campaign is eligible for the position.
Its said that old men declare wars, and then they send the young ones to fight em, Palin said during an appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). So its the duty of he who sends them to actually make sure that we can win those wars. And its our duty to elect an honorable commander-in-chief who is willing to make the same sacrifices he sends others away to make.
One of Palins sons, Track, served in Iraq for a year for the Army. Going by her remark, however, her son is more qualified than any of the GOPs most visible prospective candidates: Governors Jeb Bush of Florida, Chris Christie of New Jersey, Mike Huckabee of Arkansas, and Scott Walker of Wisconsin have not served, nor have Senators Ted Cruz of Texas, Rand Paul of Kentucky and Marco Rubio of Florida.

(11,841 posts)I'm not going to nail him for serving based on rumors, regardless of his mom being an idiot.
All of what i could ever find was that a rumor said thats what he did. Interviews i read including people involved in the vandalism crime said he wasnt a part of it.
Did I mention none of this excuses his mom from being an idiot?

(613 posts)Love it.
She damns Congress for slashing veteran services and payments.
Fails to mention the Congress that did that was a Majority GOP Congress.
But I'm sure you Americans are swift enough to make the connection.
I don't know, perhaps hanging out with all the folks at SNL 40 had an influence on her.

(2,065 posts)She seemed to be revving up her own brain with a good dose of that common sense she was talking about. But when she started rattling off all those standard right wing cliches and oversimplifications of complex problems, I came to my senses. When she says about giving the troops the tools to win, I suppose she means just giving them carte blanche to mow them all down. And when she talks about political correctness getting in the way, that's right wing lingo for diplomacy and the national interest. At least she is talking positively about benefits - in this case, for veterans. Either a lot of veterans must have been in the audience, or that's the only group of people that right wingers consider to be worthy of receiving benefits.
