"At the time, we believed that we would be attacked many more times that day
and in the days that followed. Without really thinking, based on just emotion,
spontaneous, I grabbed the arm of then Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik,
and I said to him, Bernie, thank God George Bush is our president."

This asshole's party flogged 9/11 for political gain for the better part of a decade. How dare they even raise the subject?

To stand next to Rudy "noun-verb-911" Giuliani and complain about the "politicizing" of the war on terror shows Romney is repulsively shameless.

"Politically unifying" is anything Romney boasts about regarding himself in that smarmy style of his.

thanks for pointing the hypocrisy. The GoP used 911 for their entire campaign platform in the last few elections, and now that President Obama has actually done what Bush could or would not do, i.e. take out OBL, support the taking out of Bush's dear pal in Libya, hobbling AQ, NOW it's considered wrong to politicize?

When this was going on?

Dick Cheney "if Kerry wins the November 2 election, then the danger is that we'll get hit again, that we'll be hit in a way that will be devastating" 9/7/2004

George Bush, "If Kerry wins, it could embolden our enemies." 09/04

Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) claims that terrorists "are going to throw everything they can between now and the election to try and elect Kerry," September, 2004

John Boehner (R-OH) said, "I wonder if they [Democrats] are more interested in protecting the terrorists than protecting the American people," September 2006

I'm sure Romney was very outspoken against this back then.

You used 9-11 to hide the fact that W. was so unpopular they even had a show called "That's my Bush."

You used it to get him re-elected, saying Kerry would make us lose the war.

You used it to try and get that old warhorse McCain in the White House, and his beauty queen twit of a Veep.

You even enouraged Hillary to use it with her "3 a.m." ad, so that we would be split.

You use it to justify social programs being gutted, even hoping to get your hands on SS and Medicare.

You used it to shovel money towards Israel, who used it to ramp up the process of killing.

And sadly, you used it to send billions to Pakistan, while they were sitting in mansions, laughing at you, knowing Ben Ladin was across the street, and that they had NUKES.

And yet, where Obama has done more with one night then a decade of war, NOW he cannot use it.

I see why Al-Qaida finds you useful, so will the rest of the world as they use you to turn us into slaves.

Dear Mara, there were many countless 'heros' that day and afterwards. Giuliani was not one of them. He exploited that tragedy for his own political gain, especially when running for President, just like George Bush.

Shame on you. Shame on NPR for continuing to keep you on air. Stay with FOX, where your style of "reporting" -that lacks critical thinking- is no doubt applauded.

So, My question is this... Since we know the Republicans are fear mongers, terrorists this, going to get us that.... Is it possible Bush did not want Osama Bin Laden killed to keep the fear alive? any thoughts....
