This is an astonishingly good Iran deal
And, so it begins - this is how peace starts, with a selfie...

(23,946 posts)of this agreement is not just Republicans and Bibi, it is also the corporate media.
Experts have it right, the perpetually hair on fire for Republicans are boringly pyrrhic.

(18,791 posts)And the way CBS radio has been reporting, one would think that President Obama has been negotiating ALONE, sitting at some folding table with all of Iran!
They ran THREE yaps by Puke War Hawks AND Bibi lat night, about how bad this is...
One of the War Hawks was vomiting up some garbage about letting the American people actually VOTE on this...ya right.

(15,393 posts)Israel doesn't have nuklear weapons, just like South Africa didn't have them.
And if it did have them it would definitely sign the Nuklear (non)Proliferation Treaty. But since it didn't sign the treaty it must not have any. See, pure logic from Tel Aviv.

Peace, it's just not sexy for war mongers and profiteers.

(182,958 posts)Local RW drive time radio host yesterday. He played clips from the President and then the Iranian foreign minister who said that they wouldn't be closing the facilities. See that, to him, meant the Iranians were telling the U.S. "screw you".
To the dashboard believers that makes sense.

(20,917 posts)The GOP alternative to Obamacare is nothing. The GOP alternative to this deal is: Iran continues enriching Uranium, continues arms program, sanctions continue which build up resentment to the west in society, and the world is no safer. So Nothing. They pretend their alternative is Iran having no weapons program, but their path to doing that is them continuing to do nothing. That is their solution to everything. Do nothing and hope it works out. If it doesn't work out then they have a bail it out or bomb it. Who votes for these people?

(182,958 posts)What they really fear, I think, is that This is the first step toward Iran opening back up to the West. Aside from just lifting the sanctions I think the Iranian leadership knows that their young and middle age people (most of them) are done with the whole pissing match and are trying to get in front of it.
You got that one right.

(2,073 posts)President Obama had an international upbringing, like I did, and his depth and breadth of international knowledge and savvy shows. And of course, in no other arena of governing are there so many glaring differences and disparities between him and his predecessor, who could arguably be called the most disastrous and inept in foreign policy. After all, wasn't the Iraq War the greatest US foreign policy blunder to date?
My head is still spinning as to how Obama and Kerry were able to come up with such an astonishingly good deal. How did they do it? They seem to be like magicians who just have the magic touch when it comes to rubbing the genie's lamp. So - what did Iran see or feel that they were getting in return for making these concessions? Enquiring minds like mine want to know!
Actually, the accomplishments of the Obama administration are many and legion, but the hateful, bigoted right wingers will never give him credit for any of them. Instead, they persist in continuing to call him the worst president ever, which really makes me bristle with disgust. Right wing morans: If you really want to see the worst president ever - how about looking right behind you in the rear view mirror?

(57,936 posts)Just lifting the sanctions? Anything else? And when are the sanctions to be lifted? It's great to negotiate this big step toward peace in the Middle East, but I've only heard half the story. Negotiations usually result in gives by both sides. What are those negotiating with Iran giving?

(14,600 posts)Especially considering that the American people, by a margin of 2:1, wanted a deal instead of a war. I think if the Republicans try to screw this up, many Americans will be very disappointed in them. And if they actually precipitate a war with Iran, perhaps when it is over, there can be war crimes trials. I've been waiting for those, as I know many of you have. I'm also waiting for the treason charges to be brought against the 47 Republicans, including my own state's Sen. Cory Gardner.
Now, all we have to do is try and stop Obama from going ahead with this new Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership and he can actually leave office with both domestic and foreign policy legacies very positive.

(750 posts)From my view those so called sanctions are not clear. However, since Rockefeller likely holds part or all of the formula for this nuclear stuff developed at the University of Chicago under the secret Manhattan project paid for by tax dollars, it seems reasonable Iran is giving up the initiative to find the answer to their Big Bang formula.
This agreement means those seventy five virgins can wait a while longer or even be modified later So, there has to be a jihad theme that has flattened, or better will vanish. All good reason Allah must be relieved of all that energy needed to bring forth from that which is not.
So, if your confused as many us are saying why now? Why the Republicans could not forge such a deal. The answer is simple there is a huge profiteering margin in lead rather than academic ying yanging.
So the Republican military industrial complex, where war are U.S. as motto, will get a fresh layer at the next presidential election. Likely with a new Jebi war.
