Severe in its punishment area, still another example of codified laws - some looking like the basis for the 10 Commandments.

"The Code of Hammurabi is a well-preserved Babylonian law code of ancient Mesopotamia, dating back to about 1754 BC. It is one of the oldest deciphered writings of significant length in the world. The sixth Babylonian king, Hammurabi, enacted the code, and partial copies exist on a human-sized stone stele and various clay tablets. The Code consists of 282 laws, with scaled punishments, adjusting "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth" (lex talionis)[1] as graded depending on social status, of slave versus free man.[2] "

Hammurabi was a Mesopotamian (Iraqi) who lived about a thousand years earlier than Cyrus.

But your right, we should remember both. Those are some accomplished civilizations our misleaders like to bomb. Of course, Republicans are really into human rights.

Your term, "right wing war pimp" is very revealing. It says that war is something that cannot get people to support it on its own merits alone, but rather, it needs people to be bought off to its cause in one way or another. Peace, on the other hand, is totally different, and is the natural and spontaneous desire of the whole human race.

is our greatest teacher, despite the attempts to blur, the message survives.

We need to recognize and embrace human rights beyond religion and empire, nothing is more important.

Peace & TY, Jack.
