(4,695 posts)Democrat wrong on removing Glass-Steagall + no reinstatement of Glass Steagall = a wrong move, in my opinion.

(57,936 posts)Let's see what she says about Glass-Steagall and the TPP once she deigns to talk to the press and the nation as a whole.
Until she does, it is kind of hard to criticize others for criticizing her silence.

(50,983 posts)It was a Republican bill. The big mistake was when President Clinton didn't veto it.

(2,146 posts)O'malley, and whoever --- if you start off slagging other candidates and not talking about your own qualifications and experience, the issues, and how you will use your qualifications to directly address the issues, I will not vote for you. You are getting hired to do a job, and I want to know how well you can do it.
JDPriestly
(57,936 posts)O'Malley was just answering a question. Hillary is setting herself up for criticism by not coming forward, not talking to the press and not letting us know where she stands on issues.
Oh, yes. She did tell us where she stands on heroin. A bit of a no-brainer in my view.
The other candidates are in the race and being questioned by the press. Had O'Malley not answered the questions about Hillary, then we would wonder why not. We would wonder whether he is Hillary's man. I think he, like Bernie Sanders, is his own man.

(30,058 posts)not reached everywhere. This is where I stand also, until the final agreement is delivered it is only speculations given. O'Malley knows what she has said, it is time to accept facts, he wants to speculate, she does not.

(2,116 posts)TPA will have passed, and there are certainly enough Repub votes to pass it, whatever it is or however bad it is, at that point.
Who cares what she thinks of the horse - AFTER - it's escaped the barn!

(12,882 posts)She can do little - although I'd bet a buck to a stale donut that she has Obama's ear. But say it gets sidetracked - this time - and she's president when it comes up again. And while I'd dearly LOVE to have a woman in the oval office - I just do not want this particular woman there.

(30,058 posts)Anything else is speculation, you are looking for failures, I am looking for success. If TPP wasn't an issue would you support Hillary?
Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)disapproving the agreement, Hillary DOES NOT HAVE ANY CONTROL of what happens to TPA or TPP.

(1,370 posts)Enough information has been leaked, its no mystery anymore as to who this bill benefits and who's going to get hurt by it. She says she respects Warren so much why doesn't she giver her a call.
A real leader that's passionate about defending the middle class doesn't allow precious time where to go by while she could be educating and influencing people as to what this bill really is..
Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)would be speculating. Warren is in the Senate, Hillary isn't, Warren has information available and not supposed to "leak" the information. Are you saying Warren should disregard the rules and leak it to Hillary? I doubt a real leader such as Warren would "leak". I have more respect for Warren.
raindaddy
(1,370 posts)can't gain access to the TPP?
Besides Wikileaks has already has already leaked the entire draft text...
Warren has specifically pointed to the Investor-State Dispute Settlement... "The name may sound mild, but dont be fooled. Agreeing to ISDS in this enormous new treaty would tilt the playing field in the United States further in favor of big multinational corporations. Worse, it would undermine U.S. sovereignty.
ISDS would allow foreign companies to challenge U.S. laws and potentially to pick up huge payouts from taxpayers without ever stepping foot in a U.S. court."
Just this alone should be enough to motivate any Democrat leader with populist leanings into coming out publicly against the bill..
The very fact Hillary's still "thinking about it" while the other two Dems running for President have made it clear they're against it tells me all I need to know about HRC...
Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)You don't know the final either, I don't know the final. Would you be one who would sign papers without reading the content? If you do I don't.
raindaddy
(1,370 posts)They're just asking her for an opinion on "what has already been exposed." The woman wants to be the President! We deserve more than Hillary Clinton's Machiavellian political theater..
Thinkingabout
(30,058 posts)The final agreement is released. BTW, I had opinion since before she stated it publically. You are asking her to sign on with her opinion, you are speculating on what is in the final.
raindaddy
(1,370 posts)It's already an uphill battle and by the time Hillary offers an opinion it'll probably be too late anyway.. I'm sure that's exactly what she wants.
JDPriestly
(57,936 posts)And then she is on her own.
The questions will ask other candidates to respond to her statements. That is politics. If she is not up to it, she won't last long.
I'm waiting to see how she manages to answer questions on the TPP. After all the initial and some of the important phases of the negotiation of that monstrous corporate coup took place under her tenure as secretary of state. It's going to be very interesting . . . . .
