(2,212 posts)OMG, I've watched this when my will power is next-to-nil. I'll be doing Chinese food in the very near future. If there were a 24-hr restaurant nearby, I'd already be on my way.

Old Crow
(2,212 posts)~shakes crow wing at Yui~ I was busy all day and haven't had a chance to get some Chinese food. But it's on the agenda for Saturday, you can be sure of that.

(41,832 posts)hot steamed mushrooms and fried tofu. That will be amazing over rice..But I still have a lot of duck left. It will probably last me three days!
Old Crow
(2,212 posts)Okay, so here are my favorite Asian dishes, in no particular order:
Chinese: Peking Duck. (Yes, as a crow, it feels odd to admit I like eating a fellow feathered creature, but that plum sauce is to die for.)
Korean: Sauteed Anchovies. You know, the tiny little fishlets, sauteed with a spicy red sauce, served over rice. Heaven.
Japanese: I think most Japanese curries are out of this world. An everyday food, I'm told, and not as pretty as sushi--but on a cold day? OMG.
Thai: Tom Yung Goong. That's the famous spicy red soup, which usually has about five or six shrimp in it. It contains the herb galangal, which has an unusual, almost medicinal flavor to it--but combines perfectly with the taste of the shrimp.
~stomach rumbles~ See what you've done now? ha ha

(41,832 posts)is that its an Asian Food Mecca. Tried Nasi Lemak, (Its either Malaysian or Indonesian, I forget now,) Chicken Adobo (Phillippines) or General Tso's Chicken. (originated in Taipei, Taiwan)
People love Sushi but have you ever tried Chirashi? Its out of this world. Right now, the item I most want to find is a Chinese soup dumplings. This might be great to try!!
Old Crow
(2,212 posts)I'd never heard of soup dumplings before. Judging by the reactions of those two hosts, they definitely look like they are worth a try. And Chicken Adobo has long been on my "Asian Dish Wish List" (say that five times fast!).
Thank you so much for the fun food-related chat, Yui. It's been a great change of pace from all the political stuff of the past week.
