Hard for me to watch now, because it throws a harsh light on the crappy reality we currently inhabit.

When was the last time you heard of that many Democrats working that hard just to do the right thing?

2. I believe this TV show was the only thing that kept liberals sane during the Bush years.

I think this show:

A) Kept liberals sane during the Bush years,
B) Did a lot to undue the systematic denigration conservative spin doctors had done to the word liberal (ie-the Matt Santos clip below), and
C) Did a lot to set the stage to elect a liberal President, by showing the public a model of what kinds of things a liberal President would do.

Lawrence O'Donnell playing Bartlet's father. He was great in that role.

When we would watch it we could pretend for an hour that it was reality and Bush was a really bad TV drama

9. What did you think of John Goodman as the teabag House Speaker? He was awesome in that role.

But I think both John Goodman and Alan Alda would go home at the end of a day's shooting, and feel like they needed a shower after playing those characters.
