Carson currently holds the highest favorability rating of any conservative candidate, with an impressive 81% of people reporting positive views about the retired neurosurgeon, and only 6% reporting an unfavorable view of Carson.
Carson has remained relatively low key since the first Republican debate, appearing occasionally on news programs to discuss his campaign, but he hasnt received nearly as much attention from the press as people like Trump, Bush, and even Scott Walker. And that lack of attention is likely whats fueling his rise at the moment.

(466 posts)was pediatric neurosurgery, I can imagine the malpractice premiums are outrageous because the potential for bad outcomes is very high. Is that what you mean?
There are a lot of reasons to oppose Ben Carson, but nothing in his surgical career is among them.

(9,033 posts)The point was not about malpractice premiums, or the potential for bad outcomes in his specialty, but that he has had to settle several claims--an unusual result that occurs (per the video) only in the most egregious cases.
That said, I don't think his success or failure rate in surgery has zipadeedodah to do with his fitness to be president: by any reasonable standard, he's unqualified.
