Left MP Jeremy Corbyn Elected Leader of British Labour Party, Speech Sept 12, 2015 BBC Breaking News

BBC- Jeremy Corbyn has promised to lead a Labour "fightback" after being elected the party's new leader by a landslide.

The veteran left-winger got almost 60% of more than 400,000 votes cast, trouncing his rivals Andy Burnham, Yvette Cooper and Liz Kendall.

He immediately faced an exodus of Shadow Cabinet Members- but senior figures including Ed Miliband urged the party's MPs to get behind him.

Mr Corbyn was a 200-1 outsider when the three-month contest began.

But he was swept to victory on a wave of enthusiasm for his anti-austerity message and promised to scrap Britain's nuclear weapons and renationalise the railways and major utilities.

Even if they're not Labour true believers, the dirty tricks the Blair types pulled to disqualify 100,000 Labour party members from voting rankled enough to want them all gone.

The Third Way Labourites have threatened to flounce should Corbyn prevail. Everyone is hoping they make good on that threat.

ultraconservative neoliberal global policies that are causing irreparable harm to societies and fundamental life systems worldwide. Clearly the opposition to any systemic change in the status quo will be forceful but what other choice is there. Congratulations to Corbyn!

Socialism seems to be taking the English-speaking world by storm. And, just like Bernie Sanders, Jeremy Corbyn is attracting huge numbers of people BACK INTO the Labor Party, as well as attracting thousands of young people and others who were thought to be disillusioned with politics.

I am just amazed by this development. Both men, Sanders and Corbyn, have been "back-benchers" for decades--lonely voices "crying in the wilderness" for social justice and more inclusive democracy, and here they are, at long last, leading political revolutions.

I think what we have here is one of those electric moments of vast change that occur very rarely in history, and rarely twice in one person's lifetime. The 1960s and now--or now, as the long overdue fulfillment of the aspirations of the 1960s. I was there, then, and I'm here now, and I am stunned by Corbyn's win and by Bernie's rise. Both represent something far more profound than the success of these individual politicians--they represent the success of the people, their supporters and all who have so longed for fairness, humanity and accountability in our countries and the world.

and Sanders in the US who are speaking out against income inequality, austerity, corporate rule and the destruction to workers, the middle class and the environment. Bernie's older brother Larry Sanders is a member of the Green Party in Britain, in Oxford.
When young I was fortunate to study in England briefly before the rise of Thatcher's anti-labor, right wing, conservative corporate government. What a wondrous thing to see the movement left now to try to restore what has been lost over 40 years of trickle down neoliberal economics and neocon wars that have decimated the lives and societies of many.

Photos of a new public art sculpture in London by Jason DeCaires Taylor shows Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse facing the Houses of Parliament and the law makers who are influencing climate change by their govt. and business policies.
This news item is featured on the *Home Page today.
The horses are depicted with oil well pump 'horse heads' and the two men looking away symbolize current inaction towards the global threat of climate change, weather disturbance, sea level rise, ecological and social disruption worldwide.
The 4 horsemen sculptures are submerged and then rise as the tide ebbs & flows in the Thames river in London.

I hope the anti-austerity sentiment that played a major role in the Corbyn landslide victory reaches this side of 'The Pond' too.

Blair and Clinton. Look what extreme conservatism and trickle down neoliberal economics has brought, especially after the Crash of 2008, austerity and major historic losses for workers and the middle class. Time for a move left, big time! in the UK and here across the Pond. I was fortunate to study in England briefly when young just before the rise of Maggie Thatcher's conservative, anti-labor government. What a change.~ Bernie's older brother is a member of the Green Party in Britain.
