Liberal group to launch TV ad next week against Jeb Bush saying brother 'kept us safe'

Americans United for Change:

“It’s as if Jeb Bush believes his brother’s presidency began on September 12th, 2001,” said Brad Woodhouse, president of Americans United for Change. “But we’re not letting Jeb rewrite history. It’s convenient but not honest to ignore the facts that the worst attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor happened on George W. Bush’s watch after dismissing warnings from U.S. intelligence officials weeks before 9/11 that Osama bin Laden was ‘determined to strike in US’ and that his terrorist network might hijack American planes. Terrorism was a low priority for Bush before 9/11, and just six months after 9/11, catching the mastermind behind it wasn’t one either, stating “I truly am not that concerned about him.”

A stuck pig screams the loudest:

UPDATE: Bush spokesman Tim Miller: "Hillary Clinton's political machine resorting to attacking Jeb over 9/11 is a depressing example of just how extreme the left has gotten. If there's one thing we should all agree on its that in response to that horrific attack, the country came together with resolve in the face of evil to ensure we keep our country safe. Today, while Jeb has offered a plan to defeat ISIS the Democrats have no strategy so they are left to make these craven attacks. "

No, Jeb. What was craven was your brother's mortal disdain and abject dismissal of the multiple warnings he was given, in the months before the attacks on our country on September 11, 2001.

The anthrax attacks of late September and October, 2001 were another example of your brother's failure to honor his most important oath, and that was the safety of Americans.

Agree that it would have been more effective in chronological order of the Bush disasters, but still a very effective ad.

Should have also included the anthrax attacks, that have never been solved. Bush and Cheney were popping Cipro antibiotics just prior to those attacks that were aimed at Democratic Senate leaders and media, with collateral damage at the US Postal Service.

Curious that all of those targets, the GOP hates.

thinks "he kept us safe", perhaps they SHOULD have shown more. Teach his ass a lesson on what reality really looks like. What "NOT BEING SAFE" really is!!! And to hear the idiots clapping after that moment in the debate. OMG!!!

I'm still shocked that that many people believed him.

Bush isn't likely to go anywhere beyond the GOP primaries. Why bother spending the money on an ad?
Why not put the money into a Liberal cause.
Doing an ad on Bush is like bringing out a sludge hammer to dispose of a fly. There's potential to do a lot of unnecessary damage, and to miss the fly while you're at it.

I say keep em down, while they're down. Bush deserves everything he gets on this one.

Now lets go after Fiorina for her lies.

Jeb spoke up, and has the family connection, hence the focused response; but rest of the Repubs have the same stance, and are being painted with the same brush.

It didn't fly.

The only reason Republicans don't go to jail is because Democrats don't want to rock the boat.

Cheney is still running his mouth. He should be down on his knees thanking Allah that he is not in Prison somewhere, or worse. Evil fucks!

Meek has not gotten us anywhere. I'm sure you agree. We need to try a different tack.

George W. Bush: Regret-Me-Not, December 5, 2008

In the past eight catastrophic years of lost lives, lost hope, lost scientific advancement, lost environment, lost national security, lost international reputation, one true adage of December 12, 2000 comes to mind:

Garbage in--- Garbage out.

I agree with you, Enthusiast, about the August 6, 2001 daily briefing that George W. Bush blew off while on vacation at the pig ranch in Texas. Address that, Jeb Bush.

George W. Bush ignored the warnings:

NYT: AUGUST '01 BRIEF IS SAID TO WARN OF ATTACK PLANS, April 9, 2004

Condoleezza Rice ignored the warnings too.

[link:http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x5519583|Hat tip to Joanne98)

And why might they have ignored the warnings that Bin Laden planned to attack the US?

Bush and Cheney were making deals with the Taliban in Afghanistan in the months before the attacks. Yep, it was all about OIL.

Zalmay Khalilzad served as an advisor to the giant oil company Unocal during the Taliban rule in Afghanistan.

Remember 'Take our carpet of gold, or we will destroy you with a carpet of bombs'?

Taliban's Ban On Poppy A Success, U.S. Aides Say, May 20, 2001

Secret pipeline negotiations w/ Taliban were to protect Enron., May 30, 2002

Lots more about this at this old DU thread.

NONE OF THIS HAS been presented to Americans. Many millions of Americans are unaware of what this PNAC cabal were doing in our name in the months prior to the attacks of September 11.

And let's not forget Bush and Cheney exposed CIA agent Valerie Plame, who was working on the Iranian nuclear issue. How did THAT "make us safe", Jeb Bush?

God, these people belong in prison.

May we live to see it.

11. Good Ad
Sat Sep 19, 2015, 03:01 PM
Sep 2015

It went even further than most have gone in pushing back against Jeb Bush. It not only mentioned 9/11 it mentioned the things that happened after 9/11. That makes it harder for Republicans to say, "Well, after 9/11 he kept this country safe". The ad shows President Bush II did a poor job even after 9/11.

17. The DNC SHOULD BE running ads from ALL the crazies on the stage...
Sat Sep 19, 2015, 05:55 PM
Sep 2015

Every week....a new ad. Trump can fill it up; but take clips from cruz, fiorina, huckleberry, walker, carson and the rest of the crazies. They don't need to spend a bundle...but start planting info in the heads of the apathetic, low-info public NOW!! You wait until the last few weeks of the election cycle, and they either avoid ANY news, or already have their simple minds made up, and don't have time to deal with facing reality. Just a few ads...but EVERY FOOK'N WEEK!

You can have little sound bites...right from the mouth of the clowns, and the public can see just how g'damn crazy these clowns are. This is a major problem the DNC has...they don't react to the bull shit, and they seem to assume the American voter is intelligent. WRONG! I'm guessing that most don't want anything to do with voting.

One cycle back, or maybe two, I tried to pass out voter registration forms at a parade in town, and you would have thought I was trying to collect money for some religious cult. People didn't want to even talk to me. They were rude, proud to be non-voters, were sure I was some Acorn plant or something evil. We are a nation of dumb ass idiots who deserve little better than what we have.

I believe this is why many go to fox. They don't want to think for themselves, and they WANT the America of the 1950's; when our stock was at it's highest. Since then we've been involved in so much bad shit, our name is mud to anyone who has been paying any attention. Starting with Korea, Vietnam, Granada, Central America, South America, the Middle East, North Africa....we have been everything BUT the nation that saved the world from Nazi Germany. WE have been the problem.

We are NOT the shining city on the hill. That's all bull shit. We are a place where you can live a life better than most places around the world; but we far from innocent of wrong doing around the world; and we are far from a perfect place - land of the free. You can buy that bull shit, but I know better.

I digressed. Hit the airwaves with ads NOW, and use honest display of how bat-shit crazy these idiots are. You can put out a few positives by Sanders, Clinton, and the others too if you like; but DWS is an idiot. Her idea of winning at the end of the race is pathetic. We should be winning all the way down the line...not just in the last two weeks. Americans are too uneducated to try to decide at the last moment. And too many won't vote anyway. Hopefully Bernie can excite the youth, who have always sat on their hands like they were just too g'damned important to care about the future of the country. Pathetic!
