Ben Carson - a "Doctor" who just doesn't want to pay his share of taxes.

(41,831 posts)his credentials. Every day he is sounding less and less like a Brain surgeon and more like a blathering idiot. No clue how he got into medical school, and graduated.

(26,262 posts)He was raised via the very, valuable social safety nets - Welfare, Food Stamps, Pell Grants, Affirmative Action - but he now wants to cut those programs.
And, he said he passed his exams because God gave him the answers.
I know that he performed some pretty remarkable surgeries, and his malpractice history isn't nearly as hideous as some I've reviewed (my former occupation was to credential physicians for a health care plan) but I've long been suspicious that there's something going on with him, perhaps something to do with his mental health, that caused him to retire way earlier than most neurosurgeons. Even if he retired from practicing surgery, his skills as an educator or consultant would have been very useful and profitable. So, why go the 'iffy' political route unless he is incapable of participating, on any level, in a medical situation? Admittedly, that's pure speculation, on my part, but speculation based on my experience in investigating physicians for continued participation with the plan I worked for

(20,886 posts)It's interesting to say the least. Many of the doctors are not Adventist, but most are. And a good percentage of those are creationists. I was perfectly appalled to learn that my favorite PT believes the Earth is only 6000 or 600 (or whatever it is they believe) years old.

(9,729 posts)The Adventists, were and are, extremely nice, good, capable people and I enjoyed working with and for them. However, their faith is based on the LITERAL seven days of creation (thus their name), and they will hear nothing to the contrary. I would not hesitate for a second to have an Adventist physician or nurse treat me or any member of my family. Just don't get them started on religion.

(12,471 posts)I also believe that he stopped practicing because the malpractice insurance was killing his bottom line.

(19,288 posts)Who is a devout Mormon posts Carson memes on Facebook all the time. That tells me a lot. They don't cotton to POC.
Carson fits a profile of presentation. He has an excellent facade. It doesnt matter to the evangelical base if the false front is totally shallow. It stll looks good. And appearance is all thst really matters. Substance is not a Republican family value. Josh Dugger is.

(6,045 posts)Many very ignorant & misinformed people "believe" in Creationism...However, educated & informed people weigh the overwhelming EVIDENCE that all life on Earth evolved & they accept this scientific FACT based on the 150yrs of research & evidence...They don't simply "believe" it is true like Creationist.

(2,382 posts)... but once you accept the basic premise, then you also have to accept all the witless nonsense that follows, and when you go down THAT rabbit hole, there's no gettin' out!
