The trick is to use it JUDICIOUSLY. If you splay it everywhere, and on utilitarian objects, it's stupidly superfluous. The "gold toilet seat" that dictators sometimes affect is a perfect example of excess, as in "I'm so rich I can crap on a toilet seat made of gold!"

I find those kinds of things amusing in humble homes, though. if they're fake and installed for purposes of amusement and to make an ironic point--nothing that will make you laugh more than a bathroom outfitted like a "throne room" in a country cabin.
