(11,495 posts)About laws being broken, and politicians who commit crimes being punished, why isn't he calling for the whole republican committee that has been lying, changing Clintons emails to fit their narrative of things, while wasting taxpayers dollars, millions and millions, all for political reasons, to be held accountable and prosecuted for any crimes they may have committed?
These hypocrites make me sick!

(2,382 posts)... the difference between statesmen and politicians.
I think Hillary's capable of true statesmanship, but her money men and handlers are all Old School, "Tell-'em-what-they-want-to-hear-and-then-fuck-'em-where-the-Sun-don't-shine" patronage pols with the ethics of sewer rats.
She's not stupid; she has to see which way the wind is blowing, and it AIN'T a favorable breeze for the Weasels of Wall Street. If she goes all in for the Third Way bullshit, my man Bernie's gonna eat her lunch.
If not... well then, for all her flaws, she's still not a fucking Republican, and that settles it for me.

(4,695 posts)The Hillarycare Mythology
Note: This article was originally published in The American Prospect in October 2007.
Five days after his inauguration in 1993, Bill Clinton named his wife to chair a newly established President's Task Force on National Health Care Reform. From that moment, the public had the impression that Hillary Clinton and the task force under her direction were responsible for coming up with the administration's reform plan. And when that plan went down to defeat, many people assigned her a large share of the blame.
Now that Hillary Clinton is a candidate for president, the health-reform debacle is again receiving attention, this time as a basis for judging what kind of a president she might be in her own right. The trouble with such judgments, however, is that they are usually rooted in a series of misunderstandings about the Clinton health plan, Hillary's role in the reform effort, and the reasons for its failure. The mythology of "Hillarycare," as the Republicans like to call it, is only partly the result of right-wing misrepresentations of the plan as a "government takeover" and malicious personal attacks on Hillary. The press never got the story right in the first place, and recent biographies and articles about Sen. Clinton have added to the misconceptions.
By the time Hillary became involved in health-care reform in late January 1993, Bill Clinton's thinking about the problem was already well advanced. The previous September during his campaign, he had settled on the basic model for reform -- a plan for universal coverage based on consumer choice among competing private health plans, operating under a cap on total spending (an approach known, in the shorthand of health policy, as "managed competition within a budget" . Though the media scarcely registered it at the time, Clinton had described this approach in a speech and referred to it in the presidential debates. Moreover, he saw health-care reform through the prism of economic policy, believed that reducing the long-term growth in health costs was a national imperative, and insisted that even while making coverage universal, health-care reform had to bring down future costs below current projections for both the government and the private economy. Among Clinton's close advisors, Ira Magaziner championed the view that these aims were achievable. When he became the director of the health-reform effort and Hillary the chair, their job was not to choose a policy, but to develop the one that the president had already adopted.

(4,695 posts)for the working class. The link is necessary to see the future of the attacks to be debated by the 2016, Democrat and Republican Presidential nominees. Conservatives will be lining up to take out ACA hoping that a President Clinton would declare Obamacare dead, just like Hillarycare was.

Democrats can expect a manic psycho-trigger attack by conservatives. Sanders said that reaching across the aisle was a mistake for Obama. I believe that Bernie Sanders would be the best to counter-attack Republicans.

(113,302 posts)the party, and some moran and his offspring (one presumes they were his, anyway) were running around with signs that read "impeach clinton". I asked him if he had any idea how the process went, since bill had only been elected, not yet in office. clueless twit.
one would think that the impeachment process would only be relevant for crimes committed while in office.

(5,106 posts)Democrats graciously allowed Nixon to resign, rather than impeach him (a trial being pretty much a foregone conclusion). The Repugs have never forgiven the Dems for THAT. It seemed like a smart move at the time; but was only exacerbated when Pelosi took "impeachment off the table" for Bush/Cheney, who were far more "impeachable" than any Democratic administration. NOW the crazy branch of the Republicans are not only ready to impeach ANY Democratic POTUS, but are anticipating impeachment in advance of election. There must be some responsible Republicans still around, and they MUST get control of the crazies, or sink the party, particularly with the new, younger voters. BTW: am I wrong, or aren't "high crimes and misdemeanors supposed to be committed while in office? This despite all Republican attempts to witch hunt (such as Whitewater) previous possible Dem crimes? I grew up in the fifties and sixties in an active Democratic family in a very Republican town. I KNOW there used to be reasonable and very decent Republicans. Where did they go, and how did the crazies take control?
