Big Pharma Crony Now In Charge Of Drug Safety

President Obama’s pick to be the new commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration quite possibly the worst selection imaginable.

His pick, Dr. Robert Califf, is the former professor of cardiology at Duke University, where he led a research department that was funded by Big Pharma. On top of conducting medical research on Big Pharma’s dime, Dr. Califf was also a paid consultant for drug companies including Eli Lily, Merck, and Novartis. Reports indicate that he donated that money to non-profit organizations since the mid-2000’s, but that’s still a very cozy relationship with pharmaceutical industry considering that they’ve funded the man’s entire career.

It seems he does this intentionally.

that Obama, from the very beginning of his first term, was and has been working for big money.

He throws the rest of us a bone and people say, "Look, he's the best and most progressive president ever!"

Yes, I voted for him twice, and I was really excited when he won both times. He was a lot better than the alternative, but, I'll just add, he should just return his peace prize, he doesn't deserve it.

I like Obama and I think he's been a good president. I think he's a pretty good guy in all aspects of his life.

But progressive? No...hasn't he admitted he's not?

Maybe some thirdwayers are saying this, but most liberals I know are not. You are correct in that he is better than the alternatives (repubs) and I do think he is better than Hillary could ever think of being, so I'm glad he beat her.
