Special Interests Killed Marijuana Legalization In Ohio; This Has Happened Before

What went wrong in Ohio? Well, the marijuana legalization effort was easily attacked because of the fact that a few not necessarily respected wealthy individuals became the face in the amendment fight.

Not only did that scare prominent advocacy groups like the Drug Policy Alliance and the Marijuana Policy Project away from the effort, but more importantly those few self-promoting individuals became the face of the amendment effort.

Ring of Fire’s Sam Seder and Farron Cousins discuss this.

and I am told a number of ministers made phone calls to their church members asking them to vote against it.
Many, many activists were more concerned with preventing crony corruption in the form of a monopoly created to fund republican candidates than in allowing legalization. So while legalization is popular, issues of Gerrymandering and crony deals by Kasich's government make many wary and when wary, the voter votes no.

The reasons for voting for Obama in Nov 2008, seem to be getting stronger.
