Excerpt of speech by AFSCME International President Lee Saunders to AFSCME Council 28, (State Employees of Washington State) on Friday October 2nd, 2015.

"Three candidates came and spoke to our board. Those three candidates were Martin O'Malley, ex-governor of Maryland. He's a good guy and a good governor. You can give him a round of applause (polite applause). Then it was Hillary Clinton, she came and spoke before our board (polite applause). And then it was Bernie Sanders came and spoke before our board (cheering, loud, sustained applause). Is that some kind of message? Is that some kind of message that I'm hearing?"

On October 1, 2015, the Washington Federation of State Employees / AFSCME Council 28, adopted a resolution against an Early Presidential Endorsement: "The Washington Federation of State Employees/Council 28, AFSCME opposes an early endorsement of any candidate for President of the United States prior to March 31, 2016."

2. I never had any doubt labor would fall in line behind Clinton

That is exactly what they are doing at the national level. Likely this was hashed out long before she announced and before Sanders decided to get in the race. I can't recall if this many unions had made endorsements at this point in the race in 2008. It seems to me they didn't.

If they think NAFTA was bad wait until the TPP hits.
