(5,106 posts)My reaction about three quarters in: they don't like one another. Then, by the end, Colbert seemed really out to hang Maher up, after Maher was obvioulsy snarky all along.

(5,927 posts)My reaction is: why don't he let the man talk? Is he trying to keep it from being too controversial on the show because of orders from the top floor? Or is he actually trying to prevent Bill from being able to make a point? Either way, pretty cringeworthy performance by Colbert, which makes me sad, because I always enjoyed his previous work. His guest spot on Bill O'Reilly was hilarious. Has something bad happened to him?
And of course Bill, who gets aggravated a bit fast for my money. Can't totally blame him though; I mean he'd probably be in a better mood if he was allowed to finish a sentence.
My own personal cringeworthiness score for this interview: Colbert 80% cringeworthy; Maher 5%.
And yet it was quite enjoyable. Thanks, yuiyoshida.

(20,453 posts)He deserved a little interruption, if you ask me. It's Colbert's show, for crying out loud.
This separates the men from the boys in comedy, if you ask me.

Clearly there was some friction. Not sure exactly why. Maybe Maher was too political for Colbert. I know Colbert has gotten criticism for being too liberal and not good enough ratings.
