hateful of someone because of their religion or color, doesnt occur to many of them the way it does older generations.

I lived in Mississippi for years. To many Southern Republicans in particular, asking if someone's a "New Yorker" is code for letting others know you think he (or she), to paraphrase Woody Allen, is a "left-wing, communist, Jewish, homosexual pornographer."
