... you could make the case that Mrs Clinton is so instinctively honest that she can't even successfully lie about not lying.

It does raise a spectre, though, of how she would be during negotiations where she is obligated to lie. "Are you spying on us?" "Who, me? I gotta tell you, I try very hard not to."

Your innate desire to not get tackled by Secret Service agents and hauled off for several hours of very unpleasant questioning would probably help you resist your urges.

I'm for Bernie, but...
asking someone, anyone, if they have ever told a fib. Or in a politicians case, it would be more did they ever omit information, or over-sell other parts of a bit of legislation in order to make it more palatable. IMO there are times, rare though they are, when lying may be in the best interests of the majority. Because everyone, the reporter asking, the politician answering, and most every TV view watching, is guilty of lying at times, and they know it. So its a gotcha question. If she says no...everyone knows she is lying. If she says yes...it confirms her as a lying liar that lies. So she has to either give a bumbling answer like she did or stay mute.

And also malthaussen is correct, it shows that she has a difficult time lying...which kinda proves that she is not the cold-blooded steely liar that she is accused of being.

But saying that I do think that Bernie is a different kind of politician. I will not say he has never lied, or exaggerated to get a point across, but he decided a long time ago, that he would tell the truth about the runaway oligarchy in the US and all its ramifications. So much was he dedicated to the causes of social justice and equality that he refused to be a part of one of the major parties in order not to have his hands tied and be freer to speak truth to power. Hillary will never win on the issue of trust.

Why would they? Honesty surrounds him like an aura. We all know that nobody is 100% truthful, but he comes pretty close.

All she had to say was "I say what I believe to be true." End of quote.
