Leann Brady's doctor could charge 150 a visit? My doctor charges about $300 a visit. When I didn't have Medicare, they only charged me $100, giving me a cash discount. That was until they were bought out by Providence Hospital...then no more cash discounts. You pay in full or you don't see the doc. I have Medicare now, but still don't go see the doc when I need to, unless I'm afraid of ending up in the ER or Hospital. Right now my deductible of $150 is due at my next visit and I need to see the doctor now, but won't go in because I don't have $150 plus copay (20% of 300) to spend now. Maybe I can save up for it, but now is when I need to see the doc.
That's life in America. Even on Medicare, many people just can't afford the co-pays and deductibles. We need to end this deductible problem...just like Obamacare...many people now pay premiums for something they can't use because of huge deductibles (much worse than Medicare) they cannot afford.
OK...just noticed this was uploaded in 2009...so this is pretty old. No wonder my doctor bill is higher.
