(1,779 posts)as they can, in every way that they can, and they believe this is far more important than what happens to their fellow citizens, to the country, to the world, to the future.
With their echo chamber to support their "greed is good" philosophy, and with their enablers in politics and the media, so many of them simply DO NOT CARE about the unnecessary pain and suffering they have caused -- and will cause -- to others.

(1,642 posts)There is no savior other than ourselves.
There is no one to offer stewardship of the planet other than ourselves.
To look elsewhere for answers is to shirk the responsibility we collectively have to the Earth and all its beautiful creatures.
It is more nails to the proverbial coffin if we elect Republicans or pro-corporate Democrats to office. The big moneyed interests are happy with either possibility.

(4,185 posts)It's more of an underlying philosophy of living, which, as Sanders beautifully expresses here, all religions point to.

(4,185 posts)of how we, each one of us, are the universe (which some call God) expressing itself in the human form for a little while, you come along and forced me to remember Raygun and Falwell. My ruminations on universal consciousness all shot to hell now. Thanks!

(39,215 posts)the good and the bad. You were thinking good - please continue - the good is what we need to make things better.
Laughing Mirror
(4,185 posts)The important principle, for me, is to recognize bad as bad, rather than bad trying to pass itself off as good. And as you say, the way to make things better is to focus on what or who, as the case may be, is genuinely good.

(5,178 posts)Nobody who would use the one life they are given to assist those wreaking havoc on our world for money could understand this simple concept.
Even though it may make your life better in the short term, in the end, an injustice to one is an injustice to all.

(14,014 posts)What a great name you chose.
(By the way, I prefer to call what Bernie was there and what countless others are on a daily basis, immediately helping someone near them in distress, as "primary responders" since they are there and help often long before the official "first responders" arrive. I'm thinking of the Boston Marathon, where there were hundreds of First Responders nearby the blasts, but it was fellow onlookers who rushed back in or turned to help stop bleeding and comfort the wounded most immediately. And saved lives.)

(49 posts)I agree about all the human beings around our Earth who instantly respond when the shit hits the fan. Empathy is what separates us from the reptile brained around us.
I was a volunteer firefighter for over 20 years and have seen all the ranges of humanity from pure evil to selfless sacrifice.
I have been lurking around here for years looking for a place to vent.
I am still missing having Bartcop to share with
