If you couched many of Mr Hitler's policies in modern terms, many voters would be right behind them, and not just supporters of Mr Trump. As for Mr Hitler's more extreme and bigoted positions, a certain percentage of the electorate has always favored them. Calling them "Hitler's," though, is just to wrap them up in a convenient bogey-man, and one which probably has less meaning now than it did fifty years ago. The positions continue to endure, and they were present long before the Austrian corporal reared his head. Why, IIRC, genocide was a significant part of clearing the Promised Land in the Old Testament. Anyone who thinks humanity has "evolved" or "progressed" past that stage has not been paying attention.
