Visit and remember the Souk Souq al-Madina in Aleppo Syria.
It was the largest covered market of its kind in the world and a UNESCO world heritage site that traces its history back to the 14th century. It's now been reduced to ashes as government forces and rebels fight for control of the city.
Death of its people and their historic legacy of ancient cultural sites are casualties of the scorched earth policies of air and ground wars in Syria.
Built in medieval times, lost in 2012 - 2016.

(1,835 posts)Can't you see there's money to make and power to be wield? Have some vision.
Burn it, crush it, kill it and the rebuild it all as a theme park dedicated to the real market, the free market, complete with trinkets, hotels and a nearby shopping mall to sell to docile American and European tourists. Sprinkle some Sunni religious nonsense, a bit of fundy Jesus fury, a little ortho Jewish jamboree for flavor and you've got yourself a damn nice enterprise.
Think big man. Think big.
