until, in junior high school, I saw that now famous photo of the Texas woman lying dead on the floor after attempting an abortion herself in the 1960s (not for the faint of heart if you haven't seen it). I believe I first saw it in an issue of Mother Jones during the 1992 campaign or thereabouts. I became staunchly pro-choice that very instant.

I still find it hard to believe that anyone who, knowing the same thing has happened to millions of women of the years thanks to the medieval hysteria of some, still think the state should perpetuate such tragedies.

Of course, it's not the Bible-thumpers' fault as much as it is the huckster politicians who use them (while often ordering their own daughters and mistresses to abort).

What a brave lady.

Just knowing it's the mother of someone I may have come in contact with in some way. Unbelievable.

Thanks for letting me know!

The BIble-thumpers are buying it and supporting it.

Let's grasp the reality of it. Abortions and contraception were available during the time of Jesus. If it was important to him he would have said something about it. Jesus was silent on the issue. BTW check out older versions of the BIble. Life begins when baby takes it's first breath. Anything else is BS.

Good taxpayers just don't want to see their hard-earned dollars go to killing babies. Well, except by dropping Napalm on them or making them eat Tomahawk missiles...

this was what the the discussion was about in media and women's voices - the reality of self-induced abortions and the devastating results of illegal abortions. We need to keep the discussion on what the reality of making abortion illegal does to women. These stats are a good start.

Antiabortion laws don't stop abortion. They only kill women.

The issue then was saving the lives of women. Somehow the religious beliefs of some have taken over the issue. They are never called to address the casualties of the women, but if you dig into it - they do not care about the women because they "deserve" their punishment. Just sick.

call it the "Pic of the Moment" if you must.

But,

it should be on the front page of every newspaper and the opening story on all evening news today!

And "Orange Top" wants to "Make America Great Again?"

Won't happen without fixing this mess.................

always be abortions, driven by desperation.

The main thing back then was if we were going to make sure women survived and had a right to safe, legal abortions. Not dangerous back alley abortions.

The cruel GOP thinks Just Say No is going to solve everything but all it does is kill more people. The potential mother and the fetus.

We seem to have forgotten that emphasis in recent decades.

Yet Hillary Clinton is willing to compromise with republicans on Abortion....

Again, I am where I have been, which is that if there's a way to structure some kind of constitutional restriction that take into account the life of the mother and her health, then I'm open to that. But I have yet to see the Republicans willing to actually do that, and that would be an area, where if they included health, you could see constitutional action.
