FORT WORTH -- A Facebook video apparently depicting a Fort Worth officer spraying pepper spray into a group of oncoming motorcyclists has received more than 200,000 views in 15 hours.

Fort Worth police confirmed Monday morning they started investigating the video as soon as they received it. FWPD Corporal Tracey Knight says pepper-spraying drivers is not a department-endorsed tactic.

News 8 spoke Monday to Jack Kinney, the man who recorded the video with his helmet camera, and Chase Stone, who edited the video and posted it to Facebook.

They say a group of about 200 motorcyclists were traveling up northbound U.S. 287 in Fort Worth Sunday afternoon when a Fort Worth police officer pulled over one of the motorcycle group's "safety vehicles," which is a vehicle that follows behind bikers in case of an incident.

In the edited video, which slows down and zooms in at one point, so viewers can see more clearly, the officer appears to spray something directly into oncoming traffic as he exits his vehicle. The bikers say it was pepper spray.

I've seen several videos now, of groups of bikers tearing down roads doing stunts and speeding.

Or if that cop was disciplined.

...messing with the flow of traffic, shouting "look at me, look at me!"

We have the Rolling Thunder crowd where I live. Good luck passing these guys if you get stuck behind them on the road.

Of course pepper spray is way out of line, especially from one who is supposed to represent the law. I think that cops who break the law should be held twice as accountable, because it is so easy for them to get away with it, and they do have such power over other citizens when they do.

But that biker crowd needs to learn to use turnouts.

This could cause a crash! Even a low speed crash can cause injury and death.

And I'm not justifying the cops actions in any way. But, many states have passed laws to keep motorists out of the lane closest to an emergency stop by a police officer. If this is the case in Texas the motorcyclists and motorists should be moving over to the far lane. The cop was being an A**hole for sure he made a point the wrong way......

For those who've never heard of such a thing, they are called 'move over laws.' And you are correct too, the LEO is being an A**hole in making his point by spraying riders with pepper spray. I suppose if he wanted to really get his point across, he could take plates and give chase, fining all those who didn't yield to the vehicles and personnel in the emergency lane. He may have been having a bad day and was tired of people not yielding properly.

FORT WORTH, Texas - A Fort Worth police officer caught on camera pepper spraying a group of bikers has been removed from the field and placed on desk duty pending an investigation.

Brittany Botello and her truck passengers were hit by the pepper spray blow back, but they were not the target of the spray.

"He sprays them first and then sprays everybody in the truck and it came into the truck because I was the driver and I’m six months pregnant and I just started… everybody started choking,” said Brittany Botelli.

Terry McKenzie, a passenger in the truck, said they told the officer they were choking, but he said he was just spraying the bikes and didn’t apologize for the spray getting on their group.
