(70,407 posts)mention Sanders in her column. This shows the difference between the two camps. Susan S embarrassed herself last night.
..... Barbra also takes aim at Hillary's Republican rival Donald Trump, calling him the "joke that isn't funny".
She rages: "I notice the press doesn't even call him (Trump) out on his own lies or his refusal to answer questions. If you repeat a lie loudly and long enough, people may come to believe it is true... And what would the press say, for instance, if Hillary Clinton displayed anything like the crassness of Donald Trump in debates? Or his staggering lack of knowledge on foreign or domestic policy?"
She [Barbara Streisand] concludes her essay by urging Americans to "stop being afraid" of women", adding, "Hillary Clinton isn't afraid. It's about time that a woman with strength, experience and compassion leads our already great nation in this time of global insecurity."

(17,505 posts)HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
That's hysterical. People might be afraid of Babs because she's a tyrant to work for, but "Americans"?...afraid of women? Maybe GOP men.... and judging from what they say about women, you have to wonder if they've ever met a woman. It's more like they just ignore them. I don't think a significant number a truly liberal people are "afraid of women".
Celeb endorsements. Whatever.

(4,558 posts)I just watched the video actively looking for the part that was Demeaning to Hillary with the goal of backing you up with an example.. I just couldn't find it.
Some of her points were hyperbolic BS imo, and worthy of debate, but I didn't actually find anything demeaning. Probably the most civilized thing I've seen from her this campaign season.

(70,407 posts)a Hillary supporter vs a Sanders supporter (both well know film starts). Susan talked some of BS agenda--but then she started in on a well-rehearsed vile name-caller 'liar, not to be trusted, not authentic"---the 3 biggies I hear from the RW and the many of the Sanders supporters here and elsewhere. They can't just stick with being critical of her agenda items--they have to toss in the vile name-calling.
Meanwhile Barbara S focuses in on some of Hillary's agenda and accomplishments (disses the media also)--she accomplishes her goal without mentioning or hitting on Sanders.
PS--my mom is a challenge- stubborn as an old goat--but I am glad I have this opportunity to help her at this time of her life. Thank you for your nice comments.

(588 posts)I just re-watched the clip and nowhere does she say what you've outlined, never even said the word "liar" as far as I heard...
personally I was lucky enough to be back home when my dad passed, it was such a gift I really don't have words... then only yesterday one of my good friends was back at his parents house, both of them are not doing well and after a long into the night talk with his father they went to bed and his father passed. another blessing in disguise. life is short, tell the people you love that you love them. I wish you the best.

(13,297 posts)Her answers were straight forward. Especially when Chris Hayes kept making the weak assumption that Trump WILL be the GOP candidate up against the Democrats. No one knows that, and actually there could be a divide in the GOP that creates a multiple-split in the General Election. (A much-less charismatic clown in Ross Perot was an actual challenger, and he didn't have as much of a following as Orange Bob, Square Head does.)
It also made Chris Hayes look a little naive (actually A LOT Naive) to be pushing the idea that Hillary just might be one of those magical-secret-make-a-wish politicians who takes all kinds of political spoils from big donors, won't release transcripts, deletes personal emails, but once they get in office, they go ahead and do the right thing -- this after years of examples of the contrary, including not supporting same-sex marriage, minimum wages, pushing bad trade deals, etc.
Doing the right thing starts with publicly financing your own campaign NOW without SuperPACS -- and definitely without taking hundreds of thousands of dollars PER SPEECH from corporations, big Pharma and Wall Street without being honest enough to release the words you spoke which would show how much you supposedly 'told them off' or expressed Democratic values to their faces. And we won't even get into the 350k per-plate fundraisers. Maybe that barking Hillary would look more respectful if someone was holding a $350k donation check up in the air.
Hillary is as transparent as they come, yet somehow Chris Hayes is wearing his HRC-inscribed rose-tinted glasses when he points his glare at her candidacy. A shame actually, but perhaps I'm too harsh on him and he was just pushing that magical concept because someone up in corporate wrote it down for him. Afterall, a guy's gotta eat.

(11,012 posts)to point out that Hillary was NOT likely to turn into what many of us hoped we would get in the last election. We hoped that Obama would be the catalyst for the changes we needed (and yes, oh my, yes! he was hundreds of thousands time better than his predecessor) the 2008 election.
Hillary's record was always to the right of Obama and it seems to have gone farther right since 2008. Many people don't understand that. Hayes gave Sarandon the platform to address those issues and to point out how Bernie is better on the issues, character, and record.
That was good journalism. Remember, Hayes was not asking these questions for his benefit; he was asking for the benefit of the viewers.

(11,012 posts)suggesting that she will support or vote for Trump. The world is not black and white (or in this case black or white). It comes in wonder colors, shades, and tints.
Life is easier in monochrome, but, oh, so much more beautiful in the full spectrum.

on edit: mistyped Trump when I meant Hillary. Not in any way dissing Hillary. I have had a problem all my life where I will mean to say one name (or other noun) and say another (usually the direct opposite). It is now apparently bleeding over into the typed word. It is some kind of brain dysfunction, I guess.

There's NO "let's see what happens" or "thinking about it".
When asked, the answer should be FUCK NO! A principled liberal would NEVER support someone like Trump.
I have lost all respect for Susan Sarandon. Even if she can't support Hillary Clinton, she could still write Bernie's name in.
She's disgusting.

(4,211 posts)Where was your outrage when hilly refused to make up her mind on the TPP? Or when she remained "undecided" on the keystone XL pipeline? Where was your outrage when she called young black males super predators? Or when it was discovered she took money from the prison lobby? Or, for that matter, that she's STILL taking money from the prison lobby? Where is your outrage over her attack on poor folks across the nation by supporting the crippling of welfare?
I doubt you had any... so you can keep your phony outrage. You want to talk about principled liberals? You're supporting one of the most unscrupulous so-called democrats I've ever seen. Stop being so damn hypocritical.

Yes, I am transparent. I don't let none of these assholes off the hook..
Of course, deflection is BS fans' sport. This thread is about Susan Sarandon and her fuckery, and as BSers always do, deflect from the issue at hand because they can't defend their candidate or his bigoted fans who think about voting for Trump if they don't get their ways.
Grow the fuck up.

(4,211 posts)Maybe you don't know this, but you have a journal... and your recs are tracked. A quick glance through your profile paints a picture of a Hillary supporter... no, I don't buy for a minute that you hold hilly to account for anything.
I've already debunked your phony outrage, and pointed out there's no substance to your complaint. I've already shown a light on your attempt to stir shit up. That you think I'm the one who needs to "grow the fuck up" is laughable at best.
You're right... you are transparent. You're pretending to be outraged... and all you're doing is attacking someone who isn't interested in supporting Hillary. Even better, you say I'm the one deflecting from the issues, while ignoring everything I've cited you have not objected to... remember, your past actions on DU are fairly easy to research. And while you claim "I don't let none of these assholes off the hook..", you are the one on the hook this time... and I'm certainly not letting you off.
