2. Can't bring myself to watch it. Made me feel tearful just to read about the wagging tail.

I remember when cops shooting people's dogs just for the hell of it was in the news every week (and frequently more often than that). Now I'm seeing more of these stories appearing regularly again... it appears to be a favorite pastime of cops all over the country and they know they can do it with total impunity. Absolutely no way to protect your dog from these thugs either. Gut wrenching. (Was eating at a food trailer in Austin a couple of years ago when I witnessed cops show up to check out some poor guy panhandling outside a convenience store ... and before I knew it they were shooting a friendly dog multiple times while it ran in circles next to the gas pumps, yelping, until it was dead - and with people standing around in close proximity. Totally traumatizing. They brought in a fire truck to hose down all the blood, then talked to us all trying to make sure we weren't going to lodge complaints (fat chance we would not do exactly that) and then went on their merry way. I guess they were entertaining themselves on a slow night.)

threatened to shoot my dog. i was holding my 3 month old and in my bathrobe. it was 3 am. 12 sheriffs in the drive way with their guns drawn aiming at our front door. they were looking for a high school kid who left the scene of a hit and run at the local 7-11 and who led them on a wild goose chase. he drove down our cul de sac and parked his car in our driveway. it was a fucking fender bender for Christ-sake. the kid took off running and they found him in a lemon orchard across the road.

of course, my precious dog was by my side and growling! that was a fucking idiot pos bullshit sheriff huffing and puffing with a gun threatening a woman with a baby in her arms and her dog was protecting them.

that was 38 years ago. still pisses me off. same sheriff was later sued for breaking into a couple's home and beating them because he thought there was marijuana in their home. wrong address. a multi million dollar loss for the county.
