Pic Of The Moment: Democrats Vs. Republicans: Still No Contest

McAuliffe just issued more vetoes than any Virginia governor since 1998. Here’s why.

If my candidate loses then I wont get EVERYTHING I wanted and I may have to compromise and I am NOT willing to do that because I have compromised before.

And right or wrong I am through compromising no matter who is harmed.

Sound familiar? Not only do we hear that over and over here but it is actually also the motto for the Teaparty.

That's why supporting Bernie and those who also want to remove Citizen United is crucial. Preston Picus is a good example in California. Margaret Flowers in Maryland also another good example.

He's not progressive enough. Virginia would be better off with a Republican Governor than compromise and vote for a non-pure Progressive!!

Nader in 2012: "Far too little difference" between Obama, Romney

Consumer advocate and former presidential candidate Ralph Nader says he sees "far too little difference" between President Obama and presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, arguing that "we deserve more choices in this country."

In the interview with Hotsheet on Monday, Nader said the president and his likely Republican challenger are essentially the same when it comes to foreign policy and their attitudes "toward Wall Street and corporate power." The primary difference, he said, is their position on social services.

"I think Obama is more protective of Social Security and Medicare than Mitt Romney would be," said Nader. (Watch the ten-minute interview at left.)

During his presidential campaigns - including a 2000 run that some say was responsible for George W. Bush's defeat of Al Gore - Nader largely maintained that there was essentially no difference between the major party nominees, a position that angered some of his sympathizers.

This is the kind of obtuse thinking that helped to elect Bush.

smh!

If you persist in calling people who are plainly NOT "conservative Democrats"--but instead are pragmatic and moderate to liberal-- conservative, you'll do exactly the opposite of what you intend--you'll turn the term into a compliment.

He's worked hard to try to get Medicaid expanded and make progress elsewhere, but Repugs have not cooperated. Just a few more Dems in the legislature would help.

He really has nowhere to go politically (he isn't topping Kaine or Warner) but former Gov's are "rain makers" - McDonnell just had to wait.

I remember the complaining around here when McAuliffe ran for governor: He's third way, he's a centrist and endless attacks for his role in Hillary's 2008 campaign.

Let that be a lesson to all those who think that some Democrats are not "pure" enough to pass the progressive smell test and that there's no difference between a moderate Democrat and a Republican.

So... 'Virginia is a great example of why progressives can't afford to let Republicans win at any level?'

I'm a progressive, and I don't see how on earth it is humanly possible to prevent Republicans, everywhere, from ever getting elected to office... That's sort of - impossible? I mean, I'm all for high expectations, but utter eradication of the Republican party from American public life? How exactly to we pull that one off?

Just sayin'...

You don't prevent anyone from elected office. You beat them on the facts, and you demand that they challenge your facts.

If you are old enough, you'll remember "just the facts, ma'am" from Sgt. Joe Friday on Dragnet.

I believe people need to be held to the truth. No greater crime is lying to the American people.

The Governor can serve two terms, but he/she can't do it back to back. Therefore they tend to actually govern the way they want since they are not immediately running for reelection from day 1 in their first term.

Gov. Wolf has been vetoing or threatening to veto most of the ALEC garbage thrust his way. He will be signing the one rare one - a Medical Marijuana bill finally passed by the PA legislature (although it is a bit weaker than those in other states but still something).
