Nevermind the early morning news that she won Tuesday morning probably is why voting in California is down 1.7 million voters from 2008 Wonder what would have happened if AP hadn't messed things up. They even irritated Nancy Pelosi (ouch)

With only RW trolls dissing her.
President Obama won pretty comfortably over Mitt Romney in 2012 by 5 million votes in a national election. By the time the District of Columbia counts their votes, Secretary Clinton will have won by at least 4 million votes in a primary!
It was a landslide. K&R.

(23,666 posts)Those whose extreme left positions align more with the Rand Paul crowd won't vote for her and probably wouldn't have voted for any of our past Democratic presidents. So no loss there. Real progressives will vote for her because they know the alternative is a goose stepping, irrational mad man who will destroy our country. They also know that HRC is in line with 93% of BS's positions.

Everyone can relate to disappointment in elections. But you can't predict the future, so it's probably best not to predict what your thinking will be in November.

Try not to be so gullible. Hillary is no saint. Bernie is no savior.
They are both politicians. They both do what politicians do. Hillary's deeds are researched and broadcast to everyone. Bernie's deeds and past are still largely hidden and in the closet. That is why she can win and he can't. All of his stuff (unemployment, sex essays, wife's dealings, anti-american activism) would be fresh meat for the media mill to grind. All of Hillary's stuff is old news. Nothing either has done is as bad as any of the republicans. They both are better than any of the politicians with an r by their name.
If you really want progressive change instead of a rock star, get busy on the less shiny local and state elections. That is how the tea party took over the republican party. First back Clinton and get out the vote and give Democrats an overwhelming, punishing victory. That will rock the republicans left just like the big republican victories rocked our party right. Then, in the mid terms, primary blue dog Democrats with real progressives. Give us the kind of majority that the republicans have and something can happen. It starts with a thorough trouncing of republicans from the white house to the local school board. Get 'em all while you can.
Or just wait for a "savior" to do the work for you.

I did try to make a few suggestions about how to do some practical good. The truth is that we have a chance to really make some change for a change instead of whining and fist pumping. If you don't want to work for Democratic majority in congress, then start a union - an even better way to get us where we need to be. Eugene would be proud.

Hillary and Bernie will likely have a great meeting this week. Say what you want, but Bernie and his supporters have done a great service to this country by ensuring his message has a big role in this cycle's Democratic platform. Now it's time to rally around our candidate and move this country forward.

(3,913 posts)The votes in California are very incompletely tallied. The initial projections of Hillary winning are being made from 1.6 million early votes. (Not to mention the attempted corporate media coup of declaring Hillary the winner right before Election Day in California) The early votes will skew older and more conservative. There are over 17M registered voters in California, many very recently registered. Those votes will skew younger and less conservative. So I'm still waiting to see what the real vote count is before conceding.

I'm deeply disappointed this country is unwilling to make change happen. Safer to have a neocon corporatist in the White House.
In reality, I think the obstructionists would have stonewalled Bernie at every turn, so maybe having his voice continue to stir the masses and sprout some apostles from Congress is a better move for the future. I certainly hope so, because we are doomed to slip further behind the industialized world if we ignore his message.

My sole purpose in life is now to do all I can as a citizen with a vote, a pen and a few dollars to give, to eliminate Republicans from any and all public offices that I may vote for.
Third only to the Klan and Wall Street, the U.S. Republican party is the most destructive force and promoter of evil in the United States today. They have gerrymandered their way into permanent majorities in almost half the states and are using their power not to lift people up, but to kill unions, criminalize abortion, fight LGBT rights, marginalize women and further enrich he already rich.
Hillary may not be the best vehicle for a few of these battles. But, a Republican presidency is unthinkable at this time. Climate change and the Supreme Court are at a tipping point.
Or would that be A-WOMEN on a day like this?

I'm a hoosier and I contributed to Bernie's win here in Indiana. However, I don't have any problems working to support Hillary in November. Sen. Sanders campaign has helped the Democratic move farther to the left where it needs to be. It has made it so more progressive players are at the table to help shape the platform.
Furthermore, I know Hillary will fight the GOP machine. We need that! We can't afford Trump to win. Nor can we continue to afford the right wing's ability to obstruct everything.
I sincerely hope we can come together this November. Furthermore...I sincerely hope this progressive momentum does NOT stop. Vote local. Vote the long game and build a progressive base.

All the usual old tricks are going to show up, and the knives will be out, you'd better believe it. The GOP will start purging polls, misdirecting, misinforming, mobilizing its media machine.
Democrats have to be strong and work hard for the GE. We can't just assume that Trump will shoot himself in the foot. GOTV and keep up the passion that drove people through the primaries.
