(12,471 posts)She DOES NOT live in Brooklyn.
I don't know where you got your information from, but I have been to her house!
So take your information on her, and stick it where the sun doesn't shine, because it is a freakin' lie!
AND THE 19th is NOT in the middle of nowhere! It is in the heart of the Hudson Valley. Home of IBM, GE, many solar panel companies, as well as many medium sized farms, to mention a few. It is in one of the largest parks in the country, the Catskill Mountain Preserve. It is also home to many colleges, such as Vassar, Marist, Bard, and SUNY New Paltz. It is home to the longest vertical park, the Walkway Over the Hudson, which draws at least 1.5 million visitors a year. The Roosevelt and Vanderbilt historic sites are there.
In about the middle of the 19th, in Kingston, NY, is the place that was the first capitol of New York State. There is more history here than there is in many parts of the country.
The Hudson River school of painters started here. Go look up Thomas Cole, and Fredrick Church. While you're at it, look up where John Burroughs spent a lot of time (hint: it was in the middle of the 19th)
I could go on with all the famous people through history who lived here, but there is little time. Suffice it to say that the Underground Railroad went through here, and people like Harriet Tubman and Sojourner Truth were here helping get slaves out of the South.
One of the largest water supplies is in the 19th, and the longest gravity fed aqueduct is here that goes all the way to NYC!
Woodstock, NY is a cultural mecca in the 19th.
Oh, and I have lived here for almost 40 years, and can give you more about the area than most people. I have studied the culture and history of the area, simply because I decided to live here! I can show houses from the mid 1600s. I can also show you some modern architecture that would make you stand in awe!
So think about it when you say that the 19th is in the middle of nowhere. It is in the middle of EVERYWHERE!

(12,471 posts)It is my district. We had a very liberal Congressman, Maurice Hinchey. When he retired, and they redistricted the district, we got a RepubliCLOWN, who served for two terms. He is retiring at the end of his term, to "spend more time with his family."
Though the two candidates stood close on many issues, Teachout's opponent was in constant contact with the DLC. The Democrats in the district decided that we would rather have a Berniecrat, so we voted for Teachout!
